THE END OF THE BEGINNING
John 19:16-37
I want us to focus on what is meant when Jesus says: “IT IS FINISHED.”
We could talk about all the prophecy fulfilled!
We could talk about the Law being Fulfilled!
We could preach on the Levitical Priesthood being done away with by the Great High Priest
But I thought of the importance of these words for us today
The immediate impact that the Crucifixion plays in our lives and what Jesus and others had to say about it as our lives are affected.
SO I WANT TO DEAL THIS MORNING ON THE FINISHED WORK!
And Preach on this thought THE END OF THE BEGINNING
There is an End here – Jesus “IT IS FINISHED”
Those words were the END OF HIS WORK that gave A NEW BEGINNING
Thank God there is a New Beginning
I. A NEW WAY - DIRECTION
When a Person gets to Calvary – It changes their Way
It changes their Path
It Changes their Direction
All of this was accomplished by the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross
Heb 10:20
By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
That word Way – Means a road, A Route, a Journey a Highway, a Path
Thank God when he saved Me – HE CHANGED MY DIRECTION
THERE’S A NEW WAY THAT’S BEEN MADE
NO MORE BLOOD OF GOATS AND CALVES
NO MORE SACRIFICES ON THE ALTAR
NO MORE GOING BEFORE THE PRIEST FOR FORGIVENESS OF SINS
THERE’S A NEW WAY
THERE’S A NEW TESTAMENT
THERE’S A NEW CONVENANT
Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by
means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under
the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
Heb 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not
of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
THERE IS A NEW AND LIVING WAY AND HIS NAME IS JESUS
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Joh 10:9-10 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Ac 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other
name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Ro 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
When a Person gets to Calvary – TO THE FINISHED WORK
It changes their Way It changes their Path
It Changes their Direction
THIS WORLD IS HEADED IN THE WRONG DIRECTION
It seems like that everything that used to be wrong is now right and
everything that used to be right is now wrong
The world is going exactly the opposite of what the Bible says
The Bible is headed in the Right Direction so if the World is going contrary to the word of God its headed in the Wrong Direction
The Government World is Headed in the Wrong Direction
The Social World is headed in the Wrong Direction
The Religious World is Headed in the Wrong Direction
Men are Living after their Own Lust
Consumed by Sin
Overwhelmed with Unrighteousness
WE ARE BORN IN THIS WORLD AND FOLLOW AFTER WHAT EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING
Most of the World – Are Empty inside and have no peace – BUT THEY DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW TO CORRECT
Many would change the direction their Headed – BUT THEY DON’T KNOW THE ANSWER
Now Before we start getting puffed up and bow our chest out – We need to rememer that it wasn’t long ago that we were apart of that
1Co 6:9-11 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
And such were some of you: BUT YE ARE WASHED, BUT YE ARE SANCTIFIED, BUT YE ARE JUSTIFIED in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Thank God there’s a New Way – I’m glad I’m on the Right Way
Tit 3:3-6 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
Eph 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Eph 2:1-6
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
THANK GOD WE’RE NOT ON THE WAY THAT WE USED TO BE!!!
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new
Col 3:7-9
In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
Let me say three things about this RIGHT & NEW WAY
A. ONWARD WAY
When I say Onward I mean there’s nothing to go back to!
If you ever get saved you’ll quit your doping, you’ll quit your drinking, you’ll quit your partying
BECAUSE JESUS IS SO MUCH BETTER
When you get saved you get introduced to the greatest friend that you’ll ever
have - So you don’t need those old drinking buddys
When you get saved you can drink froma fountain that will never run dry -
so you don’t need that intoxicating drink
When you get saved He clothes you with righteousness - So you don’t need
those ungodly world clothes anymore
When you get saved he gives you a song in you heart So you don’t
need the Demonic Music of this World anymore
When you get saved – he gives you the Precious Words from his mouth -- So
you don’t need the cussing anymore
When you get saved he gives you an Old Fashioned KING JAMES
VERSION - so you don’t that Pornography anymore
When you get saved There’s Nothing that you need anymore
WE’VE GOT IT ALL IN JESUS
WHAT IS THERE TO GO BACK TO THAT CAN COMPARE WITH OUR DARLING SAVIOUR
We Don’t Need the drugs
Alcohol
pornography
rock-n-roll
We don’t need that ungodly Lifestule
WE’VE GOT JESUS AND HE’S ENOUGH
No where to go back to - What place is better than Church
No one to go back to - What person is better than Jesus
No thing to go back to - What things are better than grace, mercy, love
EVERY DAY WITH JESUS IS SWEETER THAN THE DAY BEFORE
THANK GOD FOR THE FINISHED WORK

By Outward I Mean - Salvation just gets bigger and bigger
When You got Saved you didn’t realize what all happened
But ever since that glad Hour - You’ve been Learning New
We have an Enexhaustible salvation
You’ll never know how much God did for you till you get to heaven
Then the Bible Said it would take ages for him to tell us -
Eph 2:7
We Have an Enexhaustible Saviour
You’ll never be satisfied until you know everything about
and we’ll never ever
We Have the Enexaustible Scriptures
We will never learn all that we can learn about the word of God
Ever time I Study it I get something New and fresh
This salvation is getting Bigger and Bigger and Bigger
Salvation is So Great – YOU CAN’T CONTAIN IT
Salvation is Like the Measles – IT WILL BREAK OUT ON YOU
You Can’t Be a Silent Saint
You Can’t be a Silent Christian
Everytime a person got saved in the Word of God – THAT HAD TO TELL IT
The Same is true with us – When We get saved – God is so real in our heart and life – WE WANT SOMEONE ELSE TO KNOW ABOUT IT

When you got Saved you made the Best decision that you’ll ever make in Eternity
Before You got saved - You were on a down hill road - No future
When You got saved - The world becomes brighter
You have Something to live for
No longer a life of Abomination - But a Life of abundance
No longer a life of Blindness - But a Life of Beauty
No Longer a Life of Captivity - But a life of Comfort
life of Darkness, Death, and Damnation - But a life of Deliverance
No longer a Life of Evil -- But Life Everlasting
No longer a Life of Foes -- But a life of Friends
No longer a Life of gloominess - But a life of Gladness
No Longer a life of hopelessness - but a life of Happiness
No longer a life of Iniguity - But a life of Integrity
No longer a life of judgement - But a life with Joy Unspeakable and full of glory
No longer a Life of not knowing what tomorrow will bring - But a life of being Kept by the Blood of the Lamb
No longer a life of Lw Bind you down - But a life a of Liberation
No longer a Life of Madness - But a life of Mercy
No longer a life of having Nothing - But a life of Newness
No longer a Life of oppression - But a life life of Obedience
No longer a Life of Pain - But alife of Peace
No longer a life full of Questions - But a life that’s been Quickened
No longer a life in Rags - But a life in Riches
No longer a life of Rebeliousness - But a life of Redemption
No longer a Life of Sorrow and sadness - But a Life of Safety, Serenity, Satifaction, Shelter
No longer a life of Tears - But a Life of Triumph
No longer a life of Unrighteousness - But a life of Uprightness
No longer a Life of Violence & Vice- But a life of Virtue
No longer a Life of Wandering-But a life of Watching for the Saviour
WHAT A DIFFERENCE IN OUR WAY SINCE WE GOT SAVED
AREN’T YOU GLAD GOD LOVED US WHEN WE WERE UNLOVABLE
Ro 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we
were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
1Jo 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
I remember a Story Bro. Maze Jackson told of a Young man he had met while preaching all over the country
He had seen the Young man out on the Street and told him about the Revival Meeting
The Young Man came to the Revival Meeting and Got saved
After the Service He began to tell Bro. Maze his Story
He had been raised in a Christian Home
But like the Prodigal son of Luke 15 he had wanted the World instead of the
Church
He had left home 4 years earlier thinking he could make it on his own in a
Life of Sin
He Told Bro. Maze – I’m so ashamed of what I’ve done
I can’t face my mother
I can’t look my father in the Eyes
He said Bro. Maze We live right beside a Train Station
I’ve watched those trains go by all my life
I’ve ran beside those trains and wanted them to take me to all the Bright
Lights and Big Cities
He Said “BUT NOW I JUST WANT THAT TRAIN TO TAKE ME HOME”
BUT I’M AFRAID TO FACE MY PARENTS
I’m Afraid they want Welcome me Home – I’ve been so Wicked
Bro. Maze said – He told the Young Man – Let’s Give them a Call
But No they Got no answer
Then the Boy said – I have an Aunt that lives nearby
They called her – And the Boys told his Aunt – I know Mom and Dad
probably don’t want me Home
But here’s what I want them to do – HE SAID “I’m Gonna Get on the Train and
head that Way – If they want me to come home – Tell them to hang a White Handkercheif on one of the trees out front of the house
And if there’s no Handkercheif out Front – I’ll know that they want me to stay away – And I’ll not get off at the Stop
His Aunt Said “I’ll relay the Message
The Boy asked Bro. Maze if he would take the Ride with him
When they began nearing the Home place
The Boy said “I can’t Look”
“I to afraid they don’t want Me”
Bro. Maze will you look for me – Bro. Maze said the Boy just bowed his head and
Wept as they neared the Homeplace where he had broken his Parent’s Heart
Bro. Maze Said “as the neared the Homeplace he could Tell everything was going to be allright and he said “Son Lift up your Head and Look”
And there in the yard of that Home – In Every Tree were Hundreds of white pieces of cloth
And standing in the Middle of the Yard were his Father and Mother standing holding a Big White Sheet with the Words that said “Welcome Home Son”
THANK GOD I’M GLAD OUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS THE SAME WAY
I’m glad he was standing with Open arms that Sunday Morning – When I
bow my unworthy head
You say Preacher
You don’t understand what I’ve done
You don’t understand how wicked I’ve been
There’s No Way that God Loves Me as wicked as I am
There’s never been a time that God didn’t love you

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
