Diverse Perversity
Leviticus 18:22-
“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion. Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants. Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you: (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;) That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you. For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people. Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.”
Diverse perversity is a play on words that relate to how society wants to view the homosexual lifestyle as diversity. But the bible clearly states that this kind of lifestyle is perversion and an abomination to God.
Since God views this type of behavior as an abomination then we as Christians need to take the same view as God, because we are either with Him or against Him. We also need to take into account that God hates sin, but loves a sinner and wants to see them repent. Likewise, we should also not hate the person living in a homosexual lifestyle, but hate the sin of homosexuality. We need to witness to them as we do any other person that we come across and do so with love and compassion.
Now I use the term lifestyle when I speak of homosexuality, because it is just that: a style of life that they chose to live in. Some may ask, what about the “gay gene, being born gay, or that’s the way god made them?” Well, noted scientists have proven that there is no such gene in the human body, let alone one in any gay person. They have found that the study done by the scientist that found the “so-called gay gene” was flawed in many areas and it only applied to men. And what they have come up with is the conclusion that homosexuality is a learned or taught behavior, which is related to their environment. It has been found that 75% are that way because of abuse early in their life and the remaining percentage are like that because of either a lack of a same-sex role model, the lack of sex education by their parents, or just a plain desire to go against the grain.
And speaking of education it must be noted that the school system has been hi-jacked by homosexual activists to promote their lifestyle as acceptable and to further promote same sex marriages. Yes, this is being taught in our schools today. And what is even more frightening is that the homosexual community is targeting our young to make in-roads for their diverse perversity. For as one pro-homosexual author has written: “ Whoever captures the kids owns the future.”
And it is for this reason I have taken up the challenge to talk about what the bible says about same sex anything.
In the scripture that I just read we see that the Israelites are being warned to not practice this type of lifestyle, as well as any form of bestiality, which is a human mating with an animal. Otherwise the land would spew them out, much like a person vomiting out something that has caused them complete nausea and sickness. Now before you start thinking that this only applies to the Jewish people read verse 27 again. In it is stated that the Canaanites, Amorites, and others before them were cast out for the very same reason. Like Sodom, Gormorrah, and cites of the plains between them they too were destroyed because of their diverse perversity. The story of the destruction of Sodom is given in chapter 19 of Genesis, but the lead in to their wickedness is found in Genesis 13:13:
“But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.”
Exceedingly…we see they went out of their way to be wicked, and that wickedness was homosexuality and other sexual perversions. And we see this kind of attitude in these day and ages. In the days preceding hurricane Katrina devastating New Orleans, there was a planned parade called the “Decadence Day” parade, which was a gay pride activity in which they had stated they would be far worse than the prior year’s parade. They had planned to be exceedingly wicked.
Just like Lot living in the city of Sodom the bible tells us in 2 Peter 2:7-8 that God rescued Lot, a righteous man whose soul was being vexed day to day because he was dwelling among men doing ungodly deeds. We too, while standing idly by can also become vexed like Lot as we can see now how the sin of homosexuality is affecting our schools, churches, and our government.
• It is being taught in our schools as a legitimate way of living.
• It is dividing churches with people misinterpreting scriptures claiming that the bible is not clear on the subject of homosexuality.
• It is vexing our government to enact laws that make homosexuality a matter of civil rights.
These things all arise from those who want to promote a false teaching of what God clearly detests. And this Paul talks of in Romans 1:24-27 when he speaks about those who follow false teachings:
“Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.”
Here we see that it is the lusts of their own hearts that they follow. The idolatry of sex leads them into more and more perverse areas of sexual immorality. Where they worship sex more then they do God. And in doing so, they will receive the judgment due them for their sins. And the punishments for these sins are spelled out in Jude 7:
“Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.”
The bible tells us that what happened to Sodom, Gormorrha, and the cities about them should be an example to us, to not go about life in the way they did. Because in doing so we face the vengeance of eternal fire and the separation from God.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 tells us:
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
The word effeminate is used to describe homosexuals and says that they will not inherit the kingdom of God. False teachings have gotten people to believe that Paul is a homophobe and these scriptures can not be trusted. If that is the case, then half of the New Testament would need to be thrown out, because Paul wrote half of them! And I ask those that say that about Paul, how well do you know him? Have the two of you sat down for dinner and a chat, or is this just a way for you to ignore what God says about an immoral lifestyle?
But the good news is that 1 Corinthians 6:11 also say that we can be washed clean from our sins, as some of the Romans were. Repentance is the key, knowing that the homosexual lifestyle is just that…a lifestyle, a choice that is being made to live in and is an abomination to God.
So if you are a person living the homosexual lifestyle, or a person who accepts and cheers the homosexual lifestyle I urge you to talk with Jesus and he can clean you up and change your lifestyle to one of righteousness. He can remove the dark cloud of judgment from you and bring you into the marvelous light of His glory.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
So, if you are holding on to that lifestyle I ask you to let go and let God. Realize that it is time for a change…a change from the bad company you keep, to the company of those who love you in the family of Christ Jesus.
Accept Jesus today and let the new lifestyle bloom in you.
