A. DAILY BIBLE DISCIPLINE

1. B. Rations stands for basic and Bible. While B Rations might not have been enjoyable, it was nutrition and kept a solider healthy.

2. A solider must have self discipline. “You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (II Tim. 2:3).

3. We must get our faith strengthened because that is how we fight. “Fight the good fight of faith” (I Tim. 6:12).

4. We must think correctly because we fight in our minds. “For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God . . . casting down imaginations . . . bringing into captivity every

thought to the obedience of Christ” (II Cor. 10:4-5, KJV).

5. We will win inwardly, long before outward victory.

B. GRAB VICTORY WITH YOUR HAND

1. Little finger: hear the Bible. “Blessed is he that . . . hearth the words of this prophecy” (Rev. 1:3, KJV).

2. Ring Finger: read the Bible. “Give attention to reading” (I Tim. 4:13, ELT).

3. Tall man: study the Bible. “Study to show thyself an approved workman . . . rightly understanding the word of truth” (I Tim. 2:15, ELT).

4. Pointer: memorize the Bible. “Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee” (Ps. 119:11, KJV).

5. Thumb: meditate on the Bible. “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Joshua 1:8).

What Meditation Does For You

• Focuses your thoughts on God

• Blocks out temptation and defeat

• Builds determination and discipline

C. OUR STRATEGY FOR VICTORY

“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so” (Acts 17:11, KJV).

1. Attitude. “Receive the word.” Every thing begins with your mind set.

2. Commitment. “Readiness of mind” You must want victory before your achieve it.

3. Word by word. “Searched the scriptures.” The word searched means “to sift,” as separating the particles of flour.

4. Routine. “Daily” since life is daily, we must prepare for it daily.

5. Confidence. “Whether those things were so.”

D. SIX TOOLS FOR BIBLE STUDY

1. Concordance. Tells you where to find every word in the Bible.

2. Webster’s Dictionary. To find the meaning of words.

3. Bible dictionary. Bible dictionaries are not really dictionaries, they are encyclopedias. To find information on people, places, events, days, things, etc.

4. A different version. Read your passage in other versions.

5. A reference Bible. This is a Bible with footnote explanations.

a. Scofield, doctrinal notes.

b. Ryrie, expositional.

c. Companion, exegetical.

d. The King James Study Bible.
