January 7, 2007 God’s Plan for Your Life
Ps 16:8 I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Ps 16:9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. {rest...: Heb. dwell confidently}
Ps 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Ps 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
1. God’s Path for You - Ps 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life
a. God’s design and order can be seen everywhere—in the planetary systems, the leaves of the trees, the flakes of snow.
b. The same God who brought design and order to nature also has a plan for the “crown” of His creation – You and me.
c. Natur has no power of choice. Man is a free agent. He may accept or reject God’s plan for his life.
d. God’s Word sheds light on our path. God’s providential plan of redemption is revealed through His word. God’s forgiveness, acceptance, and adoption are obtained through repentance and faith.
Ps 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
2. God’s Presence with you - in thy presence is fulness of joy
a. God has made a provision in His plan of salvation for us to personally enjoy His presence with us. His Holy Spirit can abide with us always.
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
b. The Holy Spirit cleanses and fills us with God’s Love when we commit ourselves to God without reservation.
c. Spirit filled Christian are joyful Christians. Their lives are purposeful and meaningful. They are guided and directed by the Holy Spirit.
d. Spirit Filled Christian are empowered to do God’s work. They pray for others and witness to the unsaved about Jesus Christ.
e. Ac 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
3. God Pleasures to You - at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
a. There are times in the life of every Christian when contraty winds blow and sorrow is deep and dark.
b. God’s plan for His people includes “pleasures for evermore” There is coming a time when there will be no more sin, sorrow, and suffering.
c. Before Jesus left this earth, He promised to go and prepare a place for those who love Him. There He will live with them eternally
Joh 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
d. Joh 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
e. Joh 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
f. Christians should strive to bring their friends and loved ones into God’s fold that they may share His unending pleasures also.
