THINGS CHRISTIANS STRUGGLE WITH
Romans 7:15-21
Intro: Paul uses the word “flesh” in several different ways. In this particular passage Paul denotes the flesh as the personality of man controlled by sin and directed to selfish pursuits rather than to the service of God. Often times I find myself struggling with so many other spiritual things that I neglect portions of my spiritual being that could be strengthened by studying and prayer. I am not saying by any means we shouldn’t deal with those trouble spots but to engage in a struggle that hinders our work and growth in Christ is not spiritually profitable. I want to preach on the subject “Things Christians Struggle With”
I. Self
A. For some Christians folks there biggest enemy in themselves.
B. You are your own worst critic
C. Never disdain your work for Christ
D. Break your self-will
II. Sin & Satan
A. This is a daily warfare
B. You are going to sin, you are human
C. The Lord was so sure you would sin he gave us an advocate and he was the propitiation (I John 2:1-2)
D. He says “AND if you do sin” not but the word but gives a possibility in a perfect life within ourselves which is impossible
III. Salvation (1Jo 3:14)
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the
gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed
with that holy Spirit of promise
A. Some folks aren’t saved
B. Some wonder if they are saved
C. Some hope they are saved
D. But the saved know they are saved
IV. Sanctification
(2Co 6:17) Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you
A. Your sanctification is a witness to a lost and dying world
B. If you are not set apart there is a possibility you are unsaved
C. If you are a drifter you are walking on dangerous ground
V. Service
A. A lot of church members find it difficult to attend regular church meetings
B. Some never attend revival meetings
C. And there are event those that say they can be saved without attending
D. What is our reasonable service?
(Ro 12:1) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
