Prepare your heart, For Worthy is the Lamb
HHM 12-22-02 Pastor Jim Parisi
As this season unfolds and the year winds down to its last days We will celebrate the birth of our savior and reflect on our lives
Luke 2: 1-12 1 And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. 3 So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. 4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
There was no room at the inn
No room for the Son of God
No room for the savior the messiah mankind’s redeemer
Here He is born in Bethlehem… not a good town to come from
Not Rome of the day or even Jerusalem but Bethlehem
Or waited to be born in New York………..
The son of God was to be born of a woman
To save this earth and its people and there was no place for Him in the Inn
Born of a woman so no one could say He didn’t experience what we experience
Not one household from their journey could take them in ……make an exception …put them out a bit?
The God of this universe sends His son…
His own and He is born in a manger…..
A place for livestock to dwell
Set upon the ground of this earth for His bed
And the stars above for His blanket
A manger a place of animals dirty UN sanitary
Who would want this as a beginning?
The Word (JESUS) that is one with God as in John 1:1 becomes flesh for mankind
John1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Not only does he come here and leaves the fathers side in heaven but he has to live amongst us ... humanity
John 1: 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Full of Grace and loving are the words that describe
Jesus here Wise Men Matthew 2:10-11 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed beyond measure. 11 Entering the house, they saw the child with Mary His mother, and falling to their knees, they worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
God sends His son in an earthen vessel
How much does he love His People?
….Talk about treasures in an earthen vessel
OUR GOD sends His Son
His Treasure For Us
He sends his glory
2Co 4:6-7 6 For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness"--He has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us.
His spirit the Spirit of God dwells within us
We containing a treasure within us? The treasure of God His Holy Spirit
John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
John sees it’s the Christ … he sees the Lamb of God
Where is your treasure? Your car …. home ….. family job?
What is your most valuable treasure?
How do you secure it ….. in a vault at a bank?
You don’t just leave a treasure lying around
Mat 6:21 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Where your treasure is so is your heart the scripture says
Tell me where your best effort is what you love the most
I’ll show you your treasure
Remember when you were first saved He (Jesus) was your treasure
Has He lost some place or rank in your heart?
Are other things more valuable to you today?
Are There new treasures of your life?
Is there room in your heart for Him today?
Is the Lamb of God worthy to be your treasure?
John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
