Praying The Psalm In Exodus 15

Summary: Recognize God’s power to give victory.
Lord, I will sing to You, for You have exalted Yourself in battle. You drown both horse and rider in the sea.
Lord, You are my strength and song, You have saved us; You are my God; I will glorify You, You are my Father, I will exalt You; You are a warrior, You are Adonai. Pharaoh’s chariots and his army were covered by the sea. The best of Pharaoh’s officers were drowned in the Red Sea. The water of death covered them; they sank to the bottom like a stone.
Lord, Your right hand is sublimely powerful, Your right hand shattered our foe; by Your great majesty, You destroy enemies; in wrath Your fire burned them up like straw.
Lord, You blew on the water and it piled up like a wall; the sea’s bottom became like sand. Our enemy chased us down, they planned to spoil us and get rich; they planned to destroy us. You blew on the sea to destroy them; our enemy sank like lead.
Lord, there is no other God but You; no God has Your sublime holiness, awesome in miracles and splendor. You reached out with Your right hand; our enemies were swallowed up in death; with Your unfailing love, You lead Your people. In Your strength, You guided them into Your presence.
Lord, the nations heard about this and trembled; terror gripped the Philistines. The leaders of Edom will be scared to death; the courage of the Canaanites will melt; all will be frightened out of their wits. Because of Your miraculous power they will be petrified as a stone until Your people pass by, until Your people go where You lead them.
Lord, You will plant Your people in the Promised Land on the mountains which You give them. The Promised Land is where You dwell; You have made it Your sanctuary, You will reign there forever. Yes, the horses and chariots charged into the sea, the cavalry followed for the kill. But You Lord covered them with water, while we walked on the sandy bottoms and walked from one side to the other. Amen.
NINE LESSONS ABOUT OUR STRUGGLES (EX. 15:1-19)
1. Rejoice when God gives victory. “I will sing unto the Lord” (v. 1).
2. Recognize God’s power to give victory. “The Lord is my strength” (v. 2). “The Lord is a man of war” (v. 3).
3. Worship God for what He accomplishes. “Thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy” (v. 1).
4. God likes to be victorious. “Thou hast over thrown them” (v. 7).
5. God uses instruments to defeat the enemy. “With the blast of Thy nostrils, the waters were gathered together” (v. 8).
6. Look for God’s ultimate reason for giving you victory. “Thou hast redeemed: Thou hast guided . . . unto Thy holy habitation” (v. 13).
7. One victory leads to another battle. “Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountains of Thine inheritance” (v. 17).
8. God promises a victory in the future, just like past victories” (v. 17).
9. Why? God wants us to enter into His presence for fellowship and worship. “Thou shalt bring them in . . . to dwell in the sanctuary, O Lord, which Thy hands have established” (v. 17).
EIGHT LESSONS ABOUT OUR NEEDS (EX. 15:22-26)
1. Our great need is God’s opportunity to deliver us. “They went into the wilderness . . . three days . . . and found no water” (v. 22).
2. We can have a bitter taste in our mouth while walking in the center of God’s will. “They could not drink . . . for they were bitter” (v. 23).
3. God allows great need to test us. “The Lord . . . proved them” (v. 25).
4. Our fleshly desires make it easy to fail God’s test. “The people complained . . . what are we going to drink?” (v. 24, NLT).
5. Leaders must lead in faith and prayers. “Moses cried unto the Lord” (v. 25).
6. Obeying God solves our problems. “When he (Moses) cast into the waters . . . were made sweet” (v. 25).
7. We must learn lessons from our crises.
a. “Listen carefully to the voice of the Lord.”
b. “Do what is right.”
c. “Obeying His commandments” (from v. 26, NLT).
8. Obedience brings blessings and continual victory. “I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the LORD who heals you” (v. 26, NLT).
If you have never really accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, would you do it right now? Do not delay or put it off. If you would like to receive Christ by faith, pray this simple prayer in your heart:
Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died for my sins on the cross, and rose again the third day. I repent of my sins. By faith I receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior. You promised to save me, and I believe You, because You are God and cannot lie. I believe right now that the Lord Jesus is my personal Savior, and that all my sins are forgiven through His precious blood. I thank You, dear Lord, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
