Summary: open your heart and pray for the fire of heaven to fall
PRAYER STARTS FIRES
1st Kings 18:37Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
38Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
Acts 16:25And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
1.Fire will open hearts
Acts 16:14And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
Her heart was open
Her life was changed
Her work was for the Lord
2. Fire will make the Gospel effective
Acts 16:28But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
29Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
30And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
The foolishness of preaching
The moving of the Holy Spirit
The grace of God moves on sinners
3. Fire brings praise
Acts 16:25And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
Praise will come in time of trouble
Praise will wake those around us
Prayer will convict sinners
Prayer will set you free
4. Fire brings convection to those around us
Acts 16:29Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
30And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
1st John 5:14And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Matt.6: 5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Prayer opens doors
Prayer opens hearts
Prayer convicts sinners
Prayer moves souls
