Summary: This sermon looks at the desire that God has for His church to praise Him

“Praise the Lord (pt 2)”

Psa 150

- One of the things that God desires from us, His church, is to Praise Him

- To praise God is to acknowledge the glories of His excellent person

- Last week we looked at the fact that…

1. God alone is worthy of our praise

- Psa 18:3, “I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies”

TRANS: Not only is God alone worthy of our praise but…

2. It is His will for us to Praise Him

- Isa 43:21, “This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise.”

TRANS: Lastly we looked at…

3. This praise should be continuous and also public

- Psa 34:1, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

- I want to continue with the 2nd part of Praise the Lord today as we again look at Psa 150

- Pray

4. WeAre to Praise God for His

a. Holiness

- 2 Chron 20:21, “After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army saying, Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.”

b. Goodness

- Psa 135:3, Praise the Lord, for He is good, sing praise to his name for that is pleasant.”

c. Kindness

- Titus 3:3-5, At one time we too were foolish…deceived…But when the kindness and love of God appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy…”

TRANS: God desires for us to praise Him in every aspect of our lives and not only us but…

5. All of Creation Praises God

- Turn to Psalms 148

Verse 2 says the Angels praise Him

Verse 3 says Sun, moon, and stars praise Him

- Psa 147:4 (Stars numbered and named)

Verse 4 says the rain praises Him

Verse 7 says the great sea creatures praise him

Verse 8 says every aspect of the weather praises Him

Verse 9 says the hills and mountains, trees and cedars praise Him

Verse 10 says wild animals, birds, cattle, great and small praise Him

- All of creation is crying out to God and Praising His name

- How sad it would be if we His most precious creation of all did not Cry out to Him, Praise Him

- He even says in Isa 55:12, “…the mountains and hills will burst into song…and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”

- I would venture to say that God desires to be Praised and He richly deserves it

-

CONCLUSION

- God desires our praise…He created us…just our creation alone is a Praise to God

- God alone is worthy of our praise…because of who He is

- God’s will is for His people to praise Him

- And this praise should be continuous and made public

- We should praise Him for His Holiness, Kindness, & Grace

- All of creation praises Him and we are His greatest creation

- Bible tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people

- God comes and sits with, fellowships with, surrounds and consumes the praises of His people

- I want us to be able to PRAISE THE LORD without reservation, or fear

- With the sound of the trumpet and the lute and harp

- With stringed instruments and flutes and cymbals

- With everything that is within us, and everything that has breathe praise the Lord

- Pray
