This sermon encourages Christians to allow the Holy Spirit to empower them, transforming their lives into living testimonies of God's grace and power.

Introduction

Good morning, dear family of faith. There's a divine message that God has placed on my heart to share with you today, a message that will inspire, challenge, and encourage us all. Isn't it a beautiful thing that God, in His infinite wisdom, has chosen to speak to us, to guide us, and to lead us on a path of purposeful living?

Our sermon today is centered around a powerful passage from the book of Acts. Acts 1:8 states, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

This scripture is a profound reminder of the transformative power of the Holy Spirit and the purpose God has for each of us. It tells us about becoming available to God, being empowered by the Holy Spirit, and bearing witness for God.

As we contemplate this scripture, let's remember the words of the great preacher Charles Spurgeon, who once said, "Without the Spirit of God, we can do nothing. We are like ships without wind. We are useless.." Our lives, dear friends, are to be living testimonies of God's grace and power.

So, let us not merely hear these words today, but let them sink deep into our hearts, transforming us from the inside out. Let's not just be hearers of the word but doers also. Let's allow the Holy Spirit to fill us, empower us, and lead us to be effective witnesses for Christ.

Becoming Available to God

In our daily lives, we are often preoccupied with our own plans, ambitions, and desires. We are busy with our jobs, our families, our hobbies, and our social lives. We are consumed by our own needs and wants, often forgetting to make room for God in our lives. However, to truly live a life that is pleasing to God, we need to make ourselves available to Him. We need to set aside our own plans and desires, and instead, seek His will for our lives.

When we make ourselves available to God, we are essentially saying, "Here I am, Lord. Use me as You will." We are surrendering our lives to Him, trusting that His plans for us are far better than anything we could ever imagine for ourselves. We must lean on our faith, our trust in him, and our humility. But it is only when we surrender ourselves to God that we can truly experience the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

The first aspect of becoming available to God is surrender. Surrender is not about giving up or admitting defeat. It's about letting go of our own plans and desires, and instead, embracing God's will for our lives. It's about trusting that God knows what's best for us, even when we can't see the bigger picture. When we surrender to God, we are essentially saying, "Not my will, but Yours be done."

The second aspect of becoming available to God is obedience. Obedience is not about following a set of rules or regulations. It's about living a life that is pleasing to God. It's about making choices that honor Him, even when those choices are difficult or unpopular. When we obey God, we are essentially saying, "I choose to follow You, even when the path is difficult."

The third aspect of becoming available to God is prayer. Prayer is not about reciting a list of requests or demands. It's about communicating with God, expressing our love for Him, and seeking His guidance in our lives. When we pray, we are essentially saying, "I need You, Lord. Guide me, lead me, and help me to live a life that is pleasing to You."

The fourth aspect of becoming available to God is service. Service is not about doing good deeds to earn favor with God. It's about demonstrating our love for God by serving others. When we serve others, we are essentially saying, "I love You, Lord, and I want to show my love for You by loving and serving others."

Empowered by the Holy Spirit

As we continue to reflect on Acts 1:8, we find ourselves drawn to the promise of empowerment by the Holy Spirit ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
