Recognize and embrace the power, strength, and joy found in the name of Jesus, which is above all names and carries divine authority.

Introduction

Good morning, family! Today's message is all about discovering and tapping into the power and strength that we have through the wonderful name of Jesus.

We're going to dive into Philippians 2:9, which says,

"Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name."

Thomas Watson once said, "The apostles went away rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for the name of Christ, that they were graced so far as to be disgraced for the name of Christ!" The name of Jesus isn't just something we say, but it's a living, powerful force that we can lean on, find strength in, and live for.

The Power of the Name of Jesus

The power of the name of Jesus transcends human understanding, and yet it is a power that is available to each and every one of us.

First and foremost, the power of the name of Jesus is rooted in the authority it carries. As we read in Philippians 2:9, "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name." This verse tells us that the name of Jesus is not just any name; it is the name above all names. It is a name that carries with it the full authority of God Himself.

When we invoke the name of Jesus, we are not merely uttering a word; we are calling upon the power and authority of the Creator of the universe. This is a power that is unmatched and unparalleled, a power that can move mountains and calm storms, a power that can break chains and set captives free.

Another aspect of the power of the name of Jesus is the healing it brings. Throughout the Gospels, we see countless examples of Jesus healing the sick, the blind, the lame, and the demon-possessed. In each of these instances, it is the power of Jesus' name that brings about the healing.

Consider the story of the woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered much at the hands of many doctors and had spent all she had, but instead of getting better, she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, thinking, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed." Immediately her bleeding stopped, and she was freed from her suffering (Mark 5:25-29). It was the power of Jesus' name that brought healing to this woman, and it is the same power that can bring healing to us today.

This power is also evident in the victory it ensures. In the spiritual battles we face, the name of Jesus is our greatest weapon. The Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 6:10-11, "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes." One of the key components of this armor is the "sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" (Ephesians 6:17). When we wield the name of Jesus in our spiritual battles, we are wielding the very power of God Himself. This is a power that can overcome any enemy, break any stronghold, and secure any victory.

When we pray in the name of Jesus, we are partnering with God to bring about His kingdom on earth. Jesus taught his disciples to pray, "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10). As we pray in the name of Jesus, we are aligning ourselves with God's purposes and releasing His power into the world. This is a power that can transform societies, heal nations, and bring about justice and righteousness.

Furthermore, the power of the name of Jesus is not just for our benefit; it is for the glory of God. As we read in Philippians 2:11, "and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." When we experience the power of Jesus' name in our lives, it is not so that we can boast in our own strength or accomplishments; it is so that we can give glory to the One who has given us this power. Our testimonies of healing, victory, and transformation are meant to point others to the greatness of our God and the power of His name.

Finally, it is important to recognize that the power of the name of Jesus is not something we can access through our own efforts or merits. It is a gift of grace, freely given to us by God. Jesus himself said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). It is only through faith in Jesus and the power of His name that we can experience the fullness of God's power in our lives.

The Strength of the Lord's Name

It is through the name of Jesus that we can access the power and authority of God, enabling us to overcome obstacles, find hope in difficult times, and experience the fullness of God's love and grace ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
