Explores Jesus' divine sovereignty, emphasizing His role as our primary choice, a radical transformer of our lives, and a conqueror over evil forces.

Introduction

Good morning, beloved! Isn't it a wonderful day to gather together and bask in the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ? We've come together today to focus our hearts and minds on the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the name above all names - Jesus Christ.

The great preacher Charles Spurgeon once said, "There is no attribute of God more comforting to His children than the doctrine of Divine Sovereignty." So, let's lean into that comfort today. Let's find our peace and our purpose in the Divine Sovereignty of Jesus Christ.

Our Scripture today is from Philippians 2:9-11,

"Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Isn't that a powerful passage? It's a reminder that Jesus is not just a good man or a wise teacher, but He is the exalted one, the one with the name above all names. And it's not just us who will bow to Him, but every knee in heaven and on earth and under the earth. Every tongue will confess His lordship.

Today, we're going to look at three aspects of Jesus' sovereignty. We're going to see Jesus as the first option, not a last resort. We're going to consider how Jesus is a foundation shaker, turning our world upside down with His radical love and grace. And we're going to witness Jesus as a demon trembler, defeating the powers of darkness with His light.

Let's pray together.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for this day and for the opportunity to gather together in Your name. We thank You for Your Word, which is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. As we study Your Word today, we pray that You would open our hearts and minds to understand it. Help us to see Jesus as You see Him - as the first option, the foundation shaker, and the demon trembler. May we be transformed by Your Word today and every day. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Let’s get started!

The First Option

When we think about our lives, we often consider various options. We weigh the pros and cons, we consider the potential outcomes, and we make our decisions based on what we believe is the best choice. But when it comes to our spiritual lives, there is only one option that should be at the forefront of our minds - Jesus.

Jesus is not just an option among many: He is the first and best option. He is the one who can provide us with the peace, joy, and fulfillment that we are all seeking. He is the one who can guide us through the trials and tribulations of life. He is the one who can give us the strength to overcome our struggles and the wisdom to make the right decisions.

The book of Philippians: Here, Paul writes about the exalted position of Jesus. He tells us that God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name. This is a powerful statement about the sovereignty of Jesus. It tells us that Jesus is not just a good man or a wise teacher, but He is the exalted one, the one with the name above all names. This exalted position of Jesus is not just a title, but it is a reality that has practical implications for our lives. It means that Jesus is the one who has the authority and the power to guide us, to help us, and to save us. It means that Jesus is the one who has the final say in our lives.

Peace: Jesus is the one who can provide us with the peace that we are all seeking. In a world that is full of turmoil and uncertainty, we all long for peace. We long for a peace that is not dependent on our circumstances, but a peace that surpasses all understanding. This peace can only be found in Jesus.

John 14:27: In the book of John, Jesus says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." This is the peace that Jesus offers to us.

Joy: Jesus is the one who can give us the joy that we are all seeking. In a world that is full of pain and suffering, we all long for joy. We long for a joy that is not dependent on our circumstances, but a joy that is rooted in our relationship with Jesus.

John 15:11: In the book of John, Jesus says, "These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full." This is the joy that Jesus offers to us.

Fulfillment: Jesus is the one who can give us the fulfillment that we are all seeking. In a world that is full of emptiness and dissatisfaction, we all long for fulfillment. We long for a fulfillment that is not dependent on our circumstances, but a fulfillment that is rooted in our relationship with Jesus.

John 6:35: In the book of John, Jesus says, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst." This is the fulfillment that Jesus offers to us.

Guidance: Jesus is the one who can guide us through the trials and tribulations of life. In a world that is full of challenges and difficulties, we all need guidance. We need someone who can show us the way, someone who can help us navigate through the storms of life. This guidance can only be found in Jesus.

John 8:12: In the book of John, Jesus says, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." This is the guidance that Jesus offers to us.

The Foundation Shaker

As we continue to meditate on the sovereignty of Jesus, we find ourselves standing on a ground that is not as solid as we thought ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
