Positive Mind Towards God’s Work

We are all created into this world for a definite purpose, we are not just here on earth to fulfil our personal interest and purpose as this has become the attitude and character of us all.

Although, there are some people that are still committed to the work of God today, but with what mind are they discharging their duty? Many are in the vineyard today but not with a right motive, there are different and perverted motive why people dabble into God’s work today which will not yield any eternal reward.

Aim: The aim of this seminar is to help us re-kindle the fire of revival and turn back fully unto God, to pick up all the responsibilities we have dropped for a long period of time and be fully committed to the service of God.

Outline

1. Our dwelling place is too straight II Kg. 6:1: This passage gives the record of the sons of the prophet under Prophet Elisha, although, we cannot say what their actual duty was but the fact remains that they were under Prophet Elisha ministering unto the Lord, learning from the feet of the man of God, adding to the number of the learner day in day out with aggressive evangelism, so busy with the work of God, forgetting all other activities.

One day, they discovered that where they are using is too straight for them – passion for God’s work

2. Everyman a beam. II Kg. 6:2. Their place of abode could no longer contain them and they all deem it fit to go to Jordan and get a piece of wood each.

Our target for year 2018 as at Dec 31st 2017 is for each member to bring a convert before the year runs out, how many people have been able to meet up with this target? You know how much target you set for your personal life, business, children, education, career, and you know how far you have gone about your personal life.

Going to Jordan is not an easy task just for you to know what it cost these people to pass through the stress of river Jordan, at least if you do not remember anything, you remember what it cost the Israelite to pass through Jordan during the time of Joshua.

But with all these stress and difficulties they put it upon themselves to go and cut the wood that would be used for their expansion.

What has the work of the ministry caused you so far? What stress have you passed through all in the name of the gospel, let us all wake up to our responsibilities, if we fail to do so no one will do it for us.

3. Be pleased to go with your servant. II King 6:3. No one is above God’s work, one the sons of the prophets ask Elisha to go with them but the reverse is the case today, many members of the church belief that they do not need the support or guardian of the leaders or their pastors anymore, they belief they also have the Spirit of God in them and as a result of them they are not ready to listen to any advice or guidance again forgetting that no matter how great or bold you may be you cannot be as wise or knowledgeable as your leader. You will always need to be guided do not resist guidance

4. They cut down trees II King 6:4. The man of God went with them not minding his position or status, many leaders and pastors today are too full of themselves believing that they are too big for God’s work, nobody is too big for any kind of work in God’s house. There is no kind of work you can’t do in the church of God, sweeping, cleaning etc. Elisha went with the sons of the prophets and they cut trees together.

5. The axe head fell II King 6:5. In the course of working for God it does not mean you will not face difficulties or challenges, there will be a lot of persecutions and problems along the line but the Lord is always with His own people. The axe head fell as one of the prophets was busy felling the beam but most difficult thing in their situation was that the axe head was borrowed.

You can to any length (positive) to make sure that you get God’s work done, borrow money, put in all your salary or income, surrender all your substance etc.

The man cried out because they were all in big trouble even though God was in their situation. No matter what you are passing through in the course of God’s work be rest assured you are not alone.
