Positioned To Approach The Throne Of God Series

Has a foreigner ever approached you on the street? The person might want to ask for directions or be seeking some type of information. However, because they are not familiar with our customs, their approach causes you to move away. Well, this is the situation, we find ourselves in with God. God is love. However, if we try to approach Him, our sins will drive Him away. As a result, when we pray to God, we do not get an answer. God simply steps away from us because we do not know how to approach Him.

Our praying to God, just like starting a conversation with a perfect stranger, depends upon our approach. Therefore, humility not only with God but also with each other is the required position when we approach the throne of God. The Scriptures tell us, ’If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray....’

Jesus required, in Matthew 5: 23 - 24, ’ Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.’ Reconciliation is humbling ourselves before our fellowman. It justifies us with our brothers and sisters and positions us to approach the throne of God.

Although as the saved children, men, and women of God, we can boldly approach the throne of God because of Jesus, we still must approach it correctly. We humble ourselves to God by reconciling with our brothers and sisters before we approach the throne of God.

When we forgive or seek forgiveness from those we have wronged, we become acceptable to God. Justification is the action of making things just as if nothing happened. It removes mountains of guilt from our shoulders. It purifies our hearts and motives as we go before the throne of God with prayer.

The lasting impression of forgiveness depends upon a sincere heart’s outward expression of love in a friendly, humble, and civil way. The main reason for our forgiving each other is as an example to those who we are trying to reach. Although there will always be a difference of opinions in the household of God, what God has stated in the Scriptures must hold true. God will forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. This is the message, we must preach to the masses. With God, there is forgiveness; and he forgives our sins because of Jesus Christ. Therefore, as the children, women, and men of God, we display an example of God’s forgiveness when we forgive others.

Moreover, God bases how He forgives us by the forgiveness we extend to others! When we come before Him unwilling to forgive others, we cannot expect God to show us the love and mercy we desire. God will not show us mercy and love; we will not give to others! If we forgive others when they sin against us, our Father will forgive us. His forgiveness produces a peace that passes all understanding.

However, God’s forgiveness is a promise conditioned on our approach toward His throne. If we humble ourselves before God, He will exalt us and grant us entrance into His Kingdom. If we forgive others, God will forgive us. If we love God and love others as we love ourselves, we will fulfill the commands of the Law of God. If we fulfill the law of God, our name will be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. If we, the people of the household of God, will humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from our wicked ways, then will God hear from heaven and will forgive our sin and will heal our land.
