VIII. MAIN BODY:

Poor or "machsor machsor" in Hebrew which means:

1. deficiency

2. impoverishment

3. lack, need, penury, poor, poverty, want

A. Pleasure

"He who loves pleasure will be a poor man;"

Love or "ahab aheb" in Hebrew which means:

1. to have affection

2. like or love as a friend

Pleasure or "simchah" in Hebrew which means:

1. blithesomeness or glee - considered as religious or festival.

2. mirth, pleasure, rejoice

3. sport (according to Treasury of Scriptural Knowledge)

The drinkers or drunkards have their own religion and set of beliefs, according to this Hebrew word, they call it pleasure but in reality it's their religion. They have money to buy their alcohols or strong drink but they dressed poor, they can't even buy shoes, they are deficient in the basic needs of life. It is also their sport.

Pleasure itself is lacking to deliver true joy, only from the LORD comes true joy. These pleasure lover or thrill seeker nowadays thought they can replace JESUS in their hearts with pleasure and thrills.

Proverbs 14:13 (Amplified Bible)

14:13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, and the end of mirth is heaviness and grief.

Only the LORD can bring pleasure into a man's heart.

Psalms 30:11 (Amplified Bible)

30:11 You have turned my mourning into dancing for me; You have put off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,

If you try it, according to the testimony of the richest king, it will all be vanity. That's why celebrities left and right have pleasures to enjoy because of their billions of money, but afterwards they committed suicide.

Ecclesiastes 2:1 (Amplified Bible)

2:1 I SAID in my mind, Come now, I will prove you with mirth and test you with pleasure; so have a good time [enjoy pleasure]. But this also was vanity (emptiness, falsity, and futility)!

True pleasure only come if you're comforted by the LORD and only the LORD can comfort you not pleasure.

Ecclesiastes 7:4 (Amplified Bible)

7:4 The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth and sensual joy.

Matthew 5:4 (Amplified Bible)

5:4 Blessed and enviably happy [with a happiness produced by the experience of God’s favor and especially conditioned by the revelation of His matchless grace] are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted!

Seek the LORD and He will fill your heart with pleasures forever more. Seek pleasure as end in itself then you will be a poor man. Pleasure is not cheap in this world, but pleasures is free in the right hand of GOD.

Psalms 16:11 (Amplified Bible)

16:11 You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

There will be an endless supply of pleasures when you come to the LORD.

This is the spirit of the last days.

1 Timothy 5:6 (Amplified Bible)

5:6 Whereas she who lives in pleasure and self-gratification [giving herself up to luxury and self-indulgence] is dead even while she [still] lives.

2 Timothy 3:4 (Amplified Bible)

3:4 [They will be] treacherous [betrayers], rash, [and] inflated with self-conceit. [They will be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God.

Illustration: back in the college days, there are quite a handful of people that really enjoy party, every day they say "let's party!" and now I wonder where they are.
