Summary: general revival theme
PITY THE MAN--JOB 19:16-21
INTRODUCTION; This message came from the song "pity the man" In the eyes of those who did not understand Job, he was a man who surely deserved to be pitied.
HE SUFFERED:
1-mentally
2-physicially
3-spiritally
When you see what this man possessed and what he lost, and where he is at, we are moved with compassion for him--cannot have the love of God dwelling in you if you don't feel for him.
HE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE I PITY::
I-I PITY THE PERSON THAT HAS PROFESSION--BUT NOT
POSSESSION.
1-Matthew 7:20-this whole chapter is about those who
talk, but do not walk the walk.
2-verse 1-2--judge another but not self
3-verse 12--don't do for others what you want done
for you\
4-verse 21-23 pity those at the judgement
5-better make sure you have the goods
II-I PITY THE PERSON THAT KNOWS- TRADITION--BUT NOT THE
TRUTH
1-hand-me-downs if true or not is dangerous
2-Matthew 15:1-9 tells us it is harmful to the Lord's
work
3-Mark 7:6-13
4-a person may go through the motions of being right
-but if they do not possess the truth of God--they
are dead.
5-only one life to live:
A-saved life
B-satisfied life
C-safe life
III-I PITY THE PERSON THAT HAD CONVICTIONS-BUT HAS
COMPROMISED
1-many today have compromised on:
A-fashions or fads
B-friends
C-family
D-life styles
IV-I PITY THE PERSON THAT WILL DIE-BUT IS DAMNED
1-die lost--eternity will be in hell
2-no hope-eternal seperation from God
3-you need to be concerned about self as well as the
rest of your family.
4-saved people need to be concerned about those who
live around you.
5-look who you will live with in hell-Revelation 21:8
