2 Kings 6:8-17- Now the king of Syria was making war against Israel; and he consulted with his servants, saying, "My camp will be in such and such a place."

9 And the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, "Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Syrians are coming down there."

10 Then the king of Israel sent someone to the place of which the man of God had told him. Thus he warned him, and he was watchful there, not just once or twice.

11 Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was greatly troubled by this thing; and he called his servants and said to them, "Will you not show me which of us is for the king of Israel?"

12 And one of his servants said, "None, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom."

13 So he said, "Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him." And it was told him, saying, "Surely he is in Dothan."

14 Therefore he sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city.

15 And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, "Alas, my master! What shall we do?"

16 So he answered, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them."

17 And Elisha prayed, and said, "LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Verse 10-Thus He Warned Him

Elisha had been spoiling the plans of king of Syria, he was warning Israel where the danger was!

I thought that’s what a preacher’s job is suppose, to be!

Warning his congregation, where there is danger, where a person can be attacked, what the enemy is doing, what can be a trap, what can be a land mine in the spiritual warfare, where you might be ambushed and encouraging them to stick together (There is safety in numbers, most robbers won’t attack, if there is more than one person walking down the street)

Because we are living in a war zone!

We are being attacked from within and from without!

And the sad part is we are receiving some friendly fire!

Do you know what that is? That is when we are being shot by or shot at by our own people!!

People that’s supposed to on the same side as we are on!!

Verse 14-Came By Night And Surrounded The City-Have you ever had something just seem to overtake you over night?

I mean you knew there were some problems, but I it got worse overnight seem like.

I mean you had some warning, some signs, but you would have never thought it would have turned out as bad as it is!

This verse is a reminder how things can go from good to bad, that quickly!

But I don’t want you to miss the point of what is happening here….We must realize that the enemy (Satan) is always ready to surround us, to destroy us, to catch us off guard, to get us move hastily, to get us to over react!!

Remember Satan, can’t read your mind, but he can know your habits, because he’s been watching you, studying you, he knows how you are going to react in certain situations!

Just like a team watches another teams films.

Surrounded-Nobody was getting in and nobody was getting out!

That’s the way the enemy (Satan) wants you to feel….Surrounded!

You can’t help nobody, and nobody can help you!!

He wants you to feel isolated, he wants you to feel like you’re the only dealing with problem!!

That you are all alone! Alone with your troubles! Alone with your fears! Alone with your insecurities!

That’s why when you are feeling down, he can talk you into staying home from church, because if you come to church, you might hear a message that will inspire you, encourage you, you might sing a song or hear a song that break thru that bondage of depression, or you might be encouraged by another church member, when they tell you, that they have been praying for you!!

2 Corinthians 4:8-9-We are hard pressed on every side, (Have you ever felt that all the walls are crashing down on you? That everything is hitting you at once?) yet not crushed;

we are perplexed (filled with uncertainty : puzzled, you didn’t know which way to turn, or what to do), but not in despair; (My hope is built in nothing less, than Jesus blood and righteousness)
