VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. JESUS CHRIST is the Perfectly Adapted High Priest

"[Here is] the High Priest [perfectly adapted] to our needs,"

From Greek, it means "High Priest who became like us", human with body and blood.

High Priest is "archiereus" [noun, masculine] in Greek meaning:

1. chief priest, high priest - He above all others was honoured with the title of priest, the chief of priests. It was lawful for him to perform the common duties of the priesthood; but his chief duty was, once a year on the day of atonement, to enter into the Holy of Holies (from which the other priests were excluded) and offer sacrifices for his own sins and the sins of the people, and to preside over the Sanhedrin, or Supreme Council, when convened for judicial deliberations.

2. the high priests, these comprise in addition to one holding the high priestly office, both those who had previously discharged it and although disposed, continued to have great power in the State, as well as the members of the families from which high priest were created, provided that they had much influence in public affairs.

3. Used of Christ because by undergoing a bloody death he offered himself as an expiatory sacrifice to God, and has entered into the heavenly sanctuary where he continually intercedes on our behalf.

Hebrews 7:11 (Amplified Bible)

7:11 Now if perfection (a perfect fellowship between God and the worshiper) had been attainable by the Levitical priesthood—for under it the people were given the Law—why was it further necessary that there should arise another and different kind of Priest, one after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one appointed after the order and rank of Aaron?

Luke 24:26 (Amplified Bible)

24:26 Was it not necessary and essentially fitting that the Christ (the Messiah) should suffer all these things before entering into His glory (His majesty and splendor)?

Luke 24:46 (Amplified Bible)

24:46 And said to them, Thus it is written that the Christ (the Messiah) should suffer and on the third day rise from (among) the dead,

Hosea 6:1-2 (Amplified Bible)

6:1 COME AND let us return to the Lord, for He has torn so that He may heal us; He has stricken so that He may bind us up.

6:2 After two days He will revive us (quicken us, give us life); on the third day He will raise us up that we may live before Him.

Isaiah 26:19 (Amplified Bible)

26:19 Your dead shall live [O Lord]; the bodies of our dead [saints] shall rise. You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For Your dew [O Lord] is a dew of [sparkling] light [heavenly, supernatural dew]; and the earth shall cast forth the dead [to life again; for on the land of the shades of the dead You will let Your dew fall].

Galatians 2:20 (Amplified Bible)

2:20 I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

We are in CHRIST in the time that He was crucified and was hanging on the cross, He took away all our sicknesses, diseases, weaknesses of this body against sin, and we are raised up with Him. He is, was and the soon coming Chief High Priest of all priests.
