Explores the pursuit of God's perfect peace, its perseverance, and His promises, emphasizing trust in the Lord as the source of true peace.
Good morning, dear friends! It's a joy to be with you all today, gathered together under the banner of our shared faith, united in our love for the Lord and for each other. Today, we are going to open the pages of the sacred text and allow the Spirit to guide us through the profound wisdom contained within the book of Isaiah.
In the bustling, chaotic world we inhabit, the quest for peace is a universal human endeavor. Yet, as we all know, the peace that the world offers is often fleeting and unsatisfying. The peace that our souls truly yearn for, the peace that surpasses all understanding, is found only in our Lord.
Watchman Nee once said, "A born-again person ought to possess unspeakable peace in the spirit." Let’s talk about that peace today.
Let's turn our hearts and minds to the words of Isaiah and read from chapter 26, verses 3 and 4:
"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal."
These verses speak of a peace that is perfect, a peace that is steadfast, a peace that is found in trusting the Lord, our eternal Rock. Today, we will look at three main points: Pursuing Perfect Peace, Persevering in Peace, and Promises of Peace.
Before we begin, let's bow our heads and open our hearts in prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you today, humbled by your grace and awed by your majesty. We pray that as we study your Word today, you will fill us with your perfect peace. Open our hearts and minds to understand your truth and apply it in our lives. Guide us, Lord, as we seek to know you more and grow in our faith. We ask all this in the name of your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Let’s get started!
The peace we are talking about here is not the kind that the world offers. It's not the temporary calm that comes after a storm or the fleeting tranquility that we experience when everything in our lives is going well. This peace is different. It's a peace that is perfect, complete, and unchanging. It's a peace that comes from God and is available to us when we trust in Him.
How do we pursue this perfect peace?: Well, the first thing we need to do is to trust in the Lord. Trusting in the Lord means believing in His promises, relying on His strength, and surrendering our lives to His control. It means letting go of our worries, fears, and anxieties and placing them in the hands of our loving Heavenly Father. It's not easy, but it's the only way to experience the perfect peace that God offers.
More than believing in His existence or acknowledging His power: We are putting our faith in His goodness, His love, and His faithfulness. We are choosing to believe that He is for us, not against us. We are choosing to believe that He is working all things together for our good, even when we can't see it. We are choosing to believe that He is our Rock, our Fortress, and our Deliverer, even when the storms of life are raging around us.
This is not a passive acceptance of whatever comes our way: It's an active reliance on God's promises. It's a decision to believe that God is who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do. It's a determination to hold on to God's Word, even when our circumstances are challenging and our faith is tested.
Trusting in the Lord is not a one-time event: It's a daily choice. Every day, we have to choose to trust in the Lord, to rely on His strength, and to surrender our lives to His control. Every day, we have to choose to let go of our worries, fears, and anxieties and to place them in God's hands. Every day, we have to choose to believe in God's promises, to hold on to His Word, and to stand firm in our faith.
We will experience His perfect peace: This peace is not dependent on our circumstances. It's not affected by the storms of life. It's not shaken by the trials and tribulations that we face. This peace is steadfast, unchanging, and eternal. It's a peace that surpasses all understanding, a peace that guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
The steadfastness of our minds, as mentioned in Isaiah 26:3, is a key element in persevering in peace ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
