People Don’t Go To Hell For Sin, They Go To Hell For Unbelief. Is This Right? Series

Summary: God has made it clear that “the soul who sins will die” (Ezekiel 18:4)
1. People go to hell because they are guilty of sin. Even so, unbelief is a sin of the heart. Well, we can take any sin, and if we consider it carefully, we will realize that at the root of that particular sin is unbelief. The Bible tells us, “…everything that does not come from faith is sin” (Rom. 14:23). We all find ourselves alienated from God, and if this does not change before someone dies, then the situation simply continues forever. Hell is not a “place” where God actively punishes unbelievers; it is a state of relentlessly ongoing separation from God, and those who experience it will suffer eternal regret and remorse because then they will realize both their default condition and the remedy that they have missed.
2. The reason people go to hell is that they have disobeyed God and rebelled against God and his commandments. My emphasis is on the fact that what sends people to hell is not their lack of faith in Jesus, but their sin. Jesus is the only one who can help them escape the consequences of their sin, so if they reject Him, they get what they deserve (judgment, hell). If they accept Him, they get what they don’t deserve (mercy, salvation).
3. Notice in Revelation that when God was pouring out His wrath on the people, they still refused to repent. Instead, they hated God all the more for it, blaspheming His name and refusing to give Him glory (Rev 9:20–21; 16:9, 11, 21).
4. The Bible says that God created hell for Satan and the wicked angels who rebelled against Him, but there are people in hell (Matthew 25:41). Both angelic beings and human beings are in hell for the same reason, sin (Romans 6:23).
5. People go to hell because of their own sins, which they freely choose (James 1:13–16).
6. All who commit sin will go to hell because they have failed to meet His righteous standard; they have broken His Law of moral perfection. If God did not send people to hell for breaking His laws, it could be said that God is not just (Psalm 7:11).
7. Because of Sin, God sacrificed Jesus Christ for our Sins, not because of our unbelief. Anyone who says People don’t go to hell primarily because they lie, steal, or cheat or commit sins is a false doctrine. They neglect the verse which says sinners being thrown in the Lake of Fire: “But to the cowardly and unbelieving and having become abominable and murderers and the sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their portion is in the lake burning with fire and brimstone…” Rev 21:8. If anyone says people go to hell only because of unbelief, Sounds like they trying to justify the sin they’re living in. There can be only one truth, Jn 17:17–23. Any variation in the one truth is not the truth at all, but an error. By using free will, each decides for himself where he will spend eternity. We send ourselves through the decisions we make in this life. If the people hear the horn and ignore the warning and the enemy comes and takes them, they will be responsible for their own deaths. “Ezekiel 33:4
