Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
The church was born on Pentecost to proclaim and communicate the gospel to the ends of the earth.
Hey guys, today we're going to talk about the birth of the church at Pentecost. So, grab your Bibles and let's check out Acts 1:1-9, Acts 2:1-47, and John 3:16.
Now, I want you to imagine a birthday party. You know, with cake, balloons, and presents. But this isn't just any birthday party; it's the birthday of the church! And it all started with Jesus telling His disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit to come and empower them to share the good news of Jesus to the ends of the earth.
And it all started with Jesus telling His disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit to come and empower them to share the good news of Jesus to the ends of the earth.
The disciples were waiting in Jerusalem, and suddenly, the Holy Spirit came like a mighty wind, and they started speaking in different languages. This was God's way of showing that the church was meant to share the good news with everyone, no matter their language or culture.
The mission of the church is to communicate God's love to a lost and dying world. And that's where we come in. We're called to share the good news of Jesus with our friends, family, and even strangers. It might be scary sometimes, but remember, the Holy Spirit is with us, empowering us to share the gospel.
Now, let's talk about the goal of the church. It's all about creating a unique community where we can grow in our faith and support each other. Just like the early church in Acts 2:37-41, we're called to be a family that loves, accepts, and encourages one another.
So, what does this all mean for us? It means that we're part of something bigger than ourselves - the church. And as part of the church, we have a mission to share the good news of Jesus with others. So, this week, I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and share your faith with someone. It could be a friend, a family member, or even a stranger. Just remember, the Holy Spirit is with you, empowering you every step of the way.
Just remember, the Holy Spirit is with you, empowering you every step of the way.
Let's pray together: "Lord, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church. Help us to be bold in sharing your love with others and to be a supportive community for one another. Give us the strength and courage to proclaim your gospel anywhere and everywhere you lead us. In Jesus' name, Amen."
