Summary: Do you see your problem as a grief or ASA gift? (King Asa)

Text, Key Verse:

2 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him...

Title of the message:

“Penny Rich and Dollar Poor”

1. Asa was "Penny Rich."

Asa dedicated himself to the Lord.

When Asa was a young twenty year old King, he depended on God for everything. Read the following text:

2 Chr. 14

The Lord dedicated himself to Asa.

Note that when we dedicate ourselves to the Lord that God will dedicate himself to us!

2. Asa became "Dollar Poor."

Read: Chapter 16

Commentary:

When Asa was a twenty year old King, he was "Penny Rich" because he depended upon the Lord as his strength. God helped him overcome all of his enemies.

When Asa faced another enemy at age 56, he took out his check book! He no longer thought he needed to depend upon God. He was "Dollar Poor!"

I am not against bankers, lawyers, counselors, and doctors, but I am against not going to God first! We serve a jealous God. He wants us to seek him first. God prides himself in being a "very present help in the time of trouble."

Instead of seeing our problems as "Easter..." (that is: a time to be crucified,) We ought to see the problems in our lives as "Christmas..." (that is: a time for God to show his strength and bless us with the spoils of our enemy.)

Do you see your problem as a grief or ASA gift? (King Asa)
