Sermons

Summary: Only God can give us perfect peace even in the midst of trouble. In this sermon you will learn how to have the peace that the world cannot have or even understand.

*Philippians 4: 4-9

“And the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and mind through Christ Jesus”.

#1) What is the peace of God? All Christians have peace with God. That comes automatically when you accept His son.

But the peace of God is more than having peace with God; it goes deeper than that;

· It’s an inward tranquility that comes from being grounded in God’s word (being rooted in our faith), in His promises, in His power and in His presence.

· Unbelief has to die in order to make peace possible. You have to be well rooted in Gods word and erase everything that exalts itself above what God says about your present situation.

#2) Renounce all worry and by prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving make all requests known to God

Everything that we may need is readily available to us if we ask.

(Paul says in verse 5, “THE LORD IS AT HAND”)

He is available for us. All we have to do is ASK.

VERSE 6 says;

“BE CAREFUL FOR NOTHING BUT IN EVERYTHING BY PRAYER

AND SUPPLICATION AND THANKSGIVING LET YOUR REQUESTS

BE KNOWN UNTO GOD”

Paul is saying; “stop worrying about every little thing”.

When trouble comes instead of worrying about things that are out of your control bring it to someone that can take care of it.

Instead of worrying about it take it to the Lord in prayer; “WITH THANKSGIVING LET YOUR REQUEST BE KNOWN UNTO GOD”

I Peter 5:7 says; “CASTING ALL YOUR CARES UPON HIM; FOR HE CARES FOR YOU”.

· Supplication in verse 6 is the specific request that we bring to the Lord. While the word PRAYER signifies the overall attitude of our lives.

It’s possible to live in an atmosphere of prayer. Our mood should be a prayerful mood at all times.

Also with thanksgiving at all times

#3) Peace also involves the mind and the heart.

· You will never be at peace if your mind is in turmoil.

· You will never be at peace if your heart is on the wrong things.

Verse 7 says; “And the peace of God which passes all understanding,

shall keep (garrison or guard, phroureo.greek) your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:16 in the amplified bible says; “LET THE WORD {SPOKEN BY CHRIST} HAVE ITS HOME {IN YOUR HEARTS AND MINDS} AND DWELL IN YOU {IN ALL ITS RICHNESS}”.In other words. “DON’T FIGHT IT”

Isaiah 26:3 says; “THOW WILT KEEP HIM IN PERFECT PEACE, WHOSE MIND IS STAYED ON THEE: BECAUSE HE TRUSTETH IN THEE”. Keep your mind and your heart on God.

Romans 8:6 says; “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace”.

· The mind is a powerful thing; Prov.23:7, “As a man thinkith in his heart, so is he”.

· The Bible tells us what to think of so that we may have the peace of God (Philippians 4:8-9) read them.
