Preach Christmas week
This sermon explores how to emulate the faithfulness of Ephesus, cultivate fervent prayer, and experience the fruits of intercession, as depicted in Ephesians 1:15-23. Key
Good morning, beloved family in Christ. Today, we gather here, bound by a shared love and a shared purpose, to worship and learn from the Word of God. We are here, not merely as spectators, but as active participants in the divine drama of redemption. We are here to immerse ourselves in the wisdom of the scriptures, to be transformed by its teachings, and to be fortified by its truths.
As we embark on this teaching section, we find ourselves drawn into the heart of Ephesus, a city that was a beacon of faithfulness in the early Christian world. The faithfulness found in Ephesus is not just a historical footnote, but a living, breathing testament to the power of faith in action. It's a testament that speaks to us today, challenging us to live out our faith with the same fervor and dedication.
Their faith was an active commitment. The Ephesians didn't just believe in Jesus, they lived for Him. Their faith was their life. It was the air they breathed, the food they ate, the water they drank. It was the rhythm of their days and the song of their nights. It was the cornerstone of their community and the compass of their individual lives.
This active commitment was evident in their love for all God's people. Love, after all, is the truest expression of faith. It's the language of the soul, the currency of the kingdom of heaven. The Ephesians loved not just in word, but in deed. They loved not just their friends, but their enemies. They loved not just their neighbors, but the strangers among them. They loved not just in times of plenty, but in times of want.
Their love was not a convenient choice but a costly sacrifice. It was not a mere feeling but a mighty force. It was the kind of love that reflects the very heart of God, the kind of love that can change the world. This love was rooted in their faith in the Lord Jesus. Faith, after all, is the foundation of love. It's the rock on which love is built, the soil in which love grows. The Ephesians had a faith that was unshakeable, a faith that was unbreakable. Their faith was not a blind leap into the dark, but a confident step into the light. It was not a vague hope for the future, but a vibrant reality in the present.
Their faith was a public testimony. It was not a hidden treasure but a shining light. It was not a silent whisper but a loud proclamation. It was the kind of faith that inspires, the kind of faith that ignites, the kind of faith that impacts. It was the kind of faith that reflects the very character of God, the kind of faith that can move mountains.
