1 Thessalonians 2:3

I. Paul’s COURAGE before them. (vv. 1-4).

A. His APPROACH towards them was not in vain. (v.1) entrance was neither empty-handed nor fruitless

B. His AFFLICTION in boldly proclaiming the gospel to them. (v. 2) suffering in agony

C. His APPEAL to them was uncompromised. (v. 3) exhortation, entreaty 1 Thessalonians 4:1-2; 2 Corinthians 5:11; 2 Timothy 4:2; 1 Timothy 4:13; Titus 1:9; Hebrews 3:13; 10:25

1. It was not in DELUSION. (v. 3a) error, deception 1 Samuel 12:3; Acts 20:33-34; 2 Corinthians 12:16-18

2. It was not DEFILED (DEGRADED) by uncleanness. (v. 3b) impurity, immorality, corrupted, filthiness 1 Thessalonians 4:7; 2 Corinthians 2:17; 7:2

3. It was not in DECEIT. (v. 3c) guile, treachery 2 Corinthians 4:2; 11:13-15; 2 Kings 10:19; 1 Peter 2:1
