In the story of the weeds, Jesus wants us to focus on how we live our lives, not just what we say we believe. God is patient because He wants everyone to turn away from their wrong ways and come to Him. And because God is patient, we should be patient too.

Youth Sermon: Patient for the Harvest

Introduction

Hey guys! Today we're going to chat about a cool story Jesus told about a farmer, some good seeds, and some bad seeds. It's all about how God is super patient with us and wants us to live our lives in a way that reflects His love. Let's dive in!

It's all about how God is super patient with us and wants us to live our lives in a way that reflects His love.

The Parable

So, in this story, Jesus is like the farmer who planted the good seeds. The good seeds are us, the people who follow God. The bad seeds, or weeds, are the people who follow the devil. The devil is the enemy who planted the bad seeds. The farmer decides to let the weeds grow with the wheat until harvest time.

Now, let's do a little object lesson. I want you to imagine you're holding a handful of seeds. Some are good, some are bad. Can you tell the difference? Not really, right? Just like in the story, the good seeds and the bad seeds look the same, just like people. We can't always tell who's following God and who's not. But God knows, and He's patient with all of us.

Application

Now, this story isn't just about what's going to happen in the future. It's about how we live our lives right now. Jesus wants us to act like God, not the devil. He wants us to love others, even the people who are hard to love.

In another story, Jesus told the religious leaders that they were acting like the devil, even though they said they were following God. He said that if they were really God's children, they would love Him and do what He says.

So, what does this mean for us? It means that we need to show we're God's children by how we act. We need to love others, forgive them, and be kind to them. When we do these things, we're showing that we're God's children.

And remember, God is super patient. He's not in a hurry. He wants everyone to have a chance to turn to Him. He can even change people who are following the devil into people who follow Him. He can turn bad seeds into good seeds.

Conclusion

So, what's the takeaway? It's not just about saying we believe in God. It's about showing it in how we treat others. Are you showing God's love to the people around you, even the ones who are hard to love?

And remember, just like God is patient with us, we need to be patient with others. We need to trust that God can do amazing things in people's lives.

Prayer

Dear Jesus, thank you for being patient with us. Help us to show your love to others, even when it's hard. Help us to be patient, just like you are. Amen.
