Summary: Growing your heart in Christ. This outline was helped by Steven Andrews series on Guarding your Heart.

Question: Are you simply Managing your Sin or are you Reigning in Life?

Reign with a New Heart:

1. Remember who made the Payment! 5:17 "For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ." (NIV)

Adam's sin had enormous consequences, but the sacrifice of Christ is even more powerful.

5:20 "But where sin increased, grace increased all the more..." (NIV)

Philippians 3:21 "He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of His glorious body, by the power that enables Him to subject everything to Himself." (HCSB)

2. Reckon Your Position! 6:11 "In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus." (NIV)

When we receive the full grace of God it is like moving!

James 3:3 "Now when we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we also guide the whole animal." (HCSB)

3. Redirect our Attention! 6:13 "And do not offer any parts of it to sin as weapons for unrighteousness. But as those who are alive from the dead, offer yourselves to God, and all the parts of yourselves to God as weapons for righteousness." (HCSB)

We must starve the flesh, satisfy the spirit, and stay away from legalism!

Proverbs 24:14 "Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, you will find a future, and your hope will not be cut off." (NRSV)

In the Kingdom of God, we must eat meat from the word of God, drink the fresh water of worship, and feast on the fruit of prayer.

6:14 "For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace." (NIV)

Our goal is not to pray, study, or tithe but to know Jesus Christ!

Philippians 3:10 "My goal is to know Him and the power of His resurrection..." (HCSB)
