What God expects of us
Part 2---Humility
We have talked last week about what God wants us to do. We discussed dedication and sacrifice and now we must move on to more of what God wants of us. First lets review what we have discussed.
2 Chronicles 7:4-7
4Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the LORD. 5And King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand head of cattle and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep and goats. So the king and all the people dedicated the temple of God. 6The priests took their positions, as did the Levites with the LORD’S musical instruments, which King David had made for praising the LORD and which were used when he gave thanks, saying, “His love endures forever.” Opposite the Levites, the priests blew their trumpets, and all the Israelites were standing.
7Solomon consecrated the middle part of the courtyard in front of the temple of the LORD, and there he offered burnt offerings and the fat of the fellowship offerings, because the bronze altar he had made could not hold the burnt offerings, the grain offerings and the fat portions.
We discussed about dedicating our temple And more.
2 Chronicles 7:14-16
14if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.
We discussed about Us being Gods people and how we are called by His name.
Acts 17:24
24“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.
We discussed about us being the temple we are to dedicate to Him.
1 Corinthians 6:19&20
19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
We then talked about we have been bought with a price.
Romans 12:1&2
1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Wow we even talked about we are the sacrifices God wants. A living (not dead) ever being (not just once) sacrifice.
Romans 12:3-5
3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
And how we do not belong to ourselves but to each other.
Now we need to move on to what does God want of us still!
God wants us to be Humble, to submit to each other.
Ephesians 5:21&22
21Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
We hear what God wants and we sometimes get mad about it because it will call us to change, be something other than we are now. But it has been discussed in scripture, when someone calls us to change and we need to face it.
Galatians 4:16
16Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?
Beloved we need to understand Humility and I believe the best description is found here in this scripture.
Galatians 5:22-25
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
