Summary: Trust is something that develops and grows through time and faithfulness. But without trust (faith) we cannot please God. When we read in God’s word that He has never failed anyone who put their trust in Him, that should do something for our trust level.

Overflowing with Hope

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

1. God wants to fill you with joy and peace

2. Your trust in Him will help facilitate that transaction

3. God wants you to overflow with hope (More than enough for you, so share!)

4. The power of the Holy Spirit produces this overflow of hope

Takeaways: Trust God and receive the work of the Holy Spirit. As the Holy Spirit works in you, there will be an abundance of joy and peace, and an overflow of hope!

Trust is something that develops and grows through time and faithfulness. But without trust (faith) we cannot please God. When we read in God’s word that He has never failed anyone who put their trust in Him, that should do something for our trust level.

And as we learn to trust God, we come to realize that He won’t give us anything that would harm us spiritually.

Luke 11:11-13 11 "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

The Holy Spirit lives in us when we make Jesus our Leader and Forgiver. But He also comes on us with power for service as He did on the Day of Pentecost. The disciples became bold after the Holy Spirit came upon them. They were able to overflow with hope b/c they had a relationship of love and trust with the one true God who gave them joy and peace; and, they overflowed with hope b/c the Holy Spirit gave them the power and boldness to share the hope they had found in Christ!

Are you overflowing with hope? Is it making a difference in your life? Is it impacting anyone else around you? There’s enough despair and negativity, but our world seems to run short on hope. God wants you and me to be the difference and make a difference. That is why we are changing things up on a Sunday morning and showing a movie. We want to share the hope that we have in Christ! And we can do that as we welcome people in and accept them just the way they are. God makes the difference! If anyone is in Christ, he/she is a new creation. The old is gone and the new has come!

Ask God to help you trust Him more. Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit, so that you may not give in to the grim despair of the world, but rather, overflow with hope, spilling it on everyone God brings your way.

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
