A man’s foundation has a direct impact on his destiny. This is why the thorough examination of our foundation as Christians is essential for us to endure lasting success. This message looks at what a human foundation is and how the Lord seeks to start afresh.

Introduction

A person's foundation has a direct impact on their destiny. That's why it's crucial for us, as Christians, to examine our foundation thoroughly in order to achieve lasting success. In this message, we will explore what a human foundation is and how the Lord seeks to establish a fresh start.

The Importance of Human Foundations

The foundation of a building is the invisible aspect on which its main structure rests. The strength of a building largely depends on its foundation. Similarly, a human foundation is made up of a person's past deeds, the activities of their ancestors, and their entire family lineage, including parents and grandparents. The deeds of one's past lineage form the foundation of an individual.

Why do we need to address our human foundations? Just as a beautiful house will not last if its foundation is faulty, an individual cannot achieve enduring success if their foundation is not addressed. The psalmist emphasizes this in Psalm 11:3, which states that when the foundation is destroyed, the righteous have no recourse. Even if someone is born again and living a righteous life, a flawed foundation can hinder their ability to achieve greatness or success.

For example, an individual who comes from a family of idol worshippers and is the first in their lineage to embrace Christianity may face more challenges than someone whose lineage has a long history of relationship with God through Jesus.

Furthermore, the psalmist points out that even the foundations of the world are out of order, leading to confusion and chaos. This suggests that many of the problems we witness in the world today stem from faulty foundations.

Dealing with Faulty Foundations

So, how do we deal with our faulty human foundations? The Bible shows us that when God wants to use a person, He often starts by addressing their foundation through separation. We can see this in the lives of Noah, Abraham, Gideon, and David.

Noah lived in a time when humanity was engulfed in sin. But God found righteousness in Noah and chose to start a new foundation through him. God instructed Noah to build an ark and separate himself from the sinful world. Through this separation, God established a new foundation of righteousness.

Abraham, on the other hand, came from an idolatrous background. His grandfather, Nahor, and father, Terah, worshipped idols. But God chose Abraham to be the father of a great nation and separated him from his past. God instructed Abraham to leave his country, kindred, and father's house and go to a land that God would show him. By separating from his old foundation, Abraham became the starting point of a new foundation in his lineage.

Similarly, God dealt with the foundation of David. David came from a family with no history of ruling over Israel. But God chose David to be king and separated him from his father's house. Through David, God established a new foundation in his lineage, and David became the benchmark for future kings.

Gideon also experienced separation from his evil foundation. He came from an idolatrous background, with his father serving as the High Priest of Baal. But God instructed Gideon to destroy his father's altar and build an altar to God instead. Through this act of separation, God destroyed the old order in Gideon's lineage and established a new order.

Conclusion

To effectively serve God, we must separate ourselves from our evil foundations. This requires total separation, not just partial separation. We should no longer identify with the old traditions, cultures, and customs of our ancestors. Once we come into Christ, we must separate ourselves from those in our family who do not embrace Jesus. We should no longer flock to or celebrate with them if they refuse to accept Christ.

Jesus Himself emphasized the importance of spiritual relationships over physical ones. He said that only those who do the will of God are His brothers and sisters. To deal with our evil backgrounds, we must separate ourselves from them and identify with our new foundation in Christ.

In conclusion, our foundation plays a significant role in our destiny. Just as a faulty foundation can hinder the success of a building, a flawed human foundation can hinder our success in life. God wants to establish a new beginning and foundation in the lives of His children. Through separation, He addresses our faulty foundations and sets us on a path to lasting success. Let us, therefore, separate ourselves from our evil backgrounds and fully identify with Christ, who is our new foundation.
