Every kind of 'But' interferes with my life of just living an authentic life for God

Introduction

Today, I want to discuss a common hindrance in our lives that often prevents us from living authentically for God. It's something we all have, and it can be quite significant. I'm talking about our "buts." These "buts" tend to get in the way and hinder us from fully embracing a life dedicated to God. Whether big or small, these excuses interfere with our relationship with God and prevent us from living a consistent Christian life.

Examples of "Buts"

Let's take a moment to recognize some common "buts" that we often use as excuses:

- But I can't...

- But I'm over 50...

- But I don't have an education...

- But I don't have any money...

- But I'm in the wrong job...

- But I'm in bad health...

- But I've been through so much...

- But I'm not very popular...

- But I don't have anything to offer the church...

The list goes on and on. These "buts" become barriers that hinder us from fully surrendering to God and living out His purpose for our lives.

The Impact of "Buts"

Every kind of "but" interferes with our authentic relationship with God. Even the smallest "but" can distract us from important spiritual practices like prayer, reading the Bible, or denying ourselves for the sake of Christ. We often find ourselves saying, "I'm too tired," "I don't understand," or "It's boring." These excuses prevent us from fully engaging with God and His Word.

The Danger of Excuses

Excuses are rooted in our failure to take action. We tend to make excuses when we don't want to do something or when we fear stepping out of our comfort zones. Just like Moses, who made numerous excuses when God called him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, we often resist God's call because we prefer our comfort over obedience.

God's Call and Our Response

God calls us to serve alongside Him, but we often respond with excuses. We say, "I'm not good enough," "I'm not smart enough," or "I could never." However, the truth is that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). Our excuses limit us and hinder us from experiencing the fullness of God's power in our lives.

Blaming Others

Blaming others is another common excuse we use. Just like Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, we tend to shift the blame onto someone else. Adam blamed Eve, and Eve blamed the serpent. But the reality is that we are responsible for our own actions and choices. Blaming others or Satan for our shortcomings only hinders our growth and prevents us from taking personal responsibility.

No More Excuses

It's time for us to stop making excuses and start living a life of obedience to God. We must recognize that our "buts" are simply barriers that we create ourselves. We need to trust in God's strength and have faith that He will provide a way for us to overcome any temptation or challenge (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Conclusion

Let's not allow our "buts" to hinder our relationship with God any longer. Instead of making excuses, let's choose to trust in His power and live a life of obedience. When we let go of our excuses, God is glorified, people are blessed, and we experience the fullness of His blessings. So, I encourage you today, "Excuse me, your but's in the way." Let's remove those barriers and fully embrace a life dedicated to God.
