Encourages believers to overcome fear through faith in God, who is greater than any fear, and whose perfect love drives out fear.
Good morning, beloved congregation. It warms my heart to see each of you here today, gathered together in the spirit of unity and fellowship. We are here to seek wisdom from the Word of God, and to find strength and solace in His promises. Today, we are going to talk about a topic that is as old as humanity itself, yet as relevant as the morning news. It is something that each one of us has faced at one time or another, and it is something that can either paralyze us or propel us forward, depending on how we respond to it. I am talking about fear.
Fear is a powerful emotion, isn't it? It can make us feel small, vulnerable, and weak. It can make us feel as if we are standing alone in the face of a great and terrible storm. But my dear friends, I want to remind you today that we are not alone. We have a God who is greater than any storm, a God who has promised to be with us in every trial, every tribulation, and every moment of fear.
Max Lucado once said, "Meet your fears with faith." What a powerful reminder that our fear does not have the final say, but God does!
Let's look at the Scripture passage for today.
Isaiah 41:10 tells us, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
And 1 John 4:18 assures us, "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."
These verses remind us that God's love for us is stronger than any fear we may face. They remind us that we can face our fears with faith, find freedom from fear through faith, and foster fearlessness with faith.
Let's pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word and Your promises. We thank You for Your love that drives out fear. We ask that You would open our hearts and minds to Your Word today, and that You would strengthen our faith in the face of fear. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
