Our victory comes from God and we should give Him all the glory. We should also ensure to finish what we start, just like Jesus finished His mission on the cross.

Youth Sermon: Our Response to Victory

David and Goliath: Handling Victory

So, in 1 Samuel 17:40-54, after David takes down Goliath, the Philistines freak out and run away. They had all their hopes pinned on Goliath, and when he went down, they were toast. It's like when your phone dies and you don't have a charger - total panic, right? But this shows us that we shouldn't put all our trust in people or things, but in God. He's always there, and He won't let us down.

When God helps us win, He deserves a shout-out. In verse 52, the Israelites are cheering and praising God for their win. We should do the same. Remember, it's God who gives us the strength and helps us win our battles. We can't take credit for that.

We shouldn't put all our trust in people or things, but in God. He's always there, and He won't let us down.

Finishing What We Start

After the win, the Israelites didn't just chill. They chased the Philistines and took their stuff. This shows us that we need to finish what we start. We can't just quit halfway. Like Jesus didn't quit on the cross, we need to complete the tasks God has given us.

Imagine you're playing a video game. You've battled through all the levels, and you're at the final boss. You defeat him, and you're ecstatic. But then, you just turn off the game without saving. All that hard work, and you didn't finish the game. That's what it's like when we don't finish what we start. We miss out on the full victory.

Facing Our Battles

In your life, you're going to face a lot of battles. Maybe it's a tough class, a difficult relationship, or a personal struggle. But remember, God is there to help you win. Don't try to do it alone. Ask God for help and trust Him to deliver you. And when you win, give Him the credit. And don't forget to finish what you start.

Prayer

God, thank you for helping us win our battles. Help us to trust you more, to give you the credit, and to finish what we start. In Jesus' name, Amen.
