VIII. MAIN BODY:

Nowadays, these are the two most hard thing to offer to GOD, either you are not grateful to GOD and you don't keep your word to GOD, you just say things that will make you look good.

A. Sacrifice of Thanksgiving

"Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving,"

I may forget to thank the person but will shout in thanksgiving to GOD.

Offer or "zabach" in Hebrew which means:

1. to slaughter an animal

2. kill, offer, lay

Thanksgiving or "todah" in Hebrew which means:

1. an extension of the hand

2. adoration, confession, sacrifice of praise, offering

I attended local churches that when you raise your hands in thanksgiving to GOD, an usher will approach you and say "Sir, what can we do for you? Do you need to drink?" Very funny, but at that time I almost burped to laughed but I controlled myself, thinking maybe they are not accustomed in seeing one thanking GOD by raising the hands. But it's very clear in the bible, that during those days, when you want to thank GOD, you raise your hands to Him.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (Amplified Bible)

5:18 Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].

Hebrews 13:15 (Amplified Bible)

13:15 Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name.

1 Peter 2:5 (Amplified Bible)

2:5 [Come] and, like living stones, be yourselves built [into] a spiritual house, for a holy (dedicated, consecrated) priesthood, to offer up [those] spiritual sacrifices [that are] acceptable and pleasing to God through Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 2:9 (Amplified Bible)

2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Even in the Old Testament we can claim a promise from GOD, fully trust and depend alone on GOD for the fulfilment of His promise without us doing anything.

Exodus 19:5-6 (Amplified Bible)

19:5 Now therefore, if you will obey My voice in truth and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own peculiar possession and treasure from among and above all peoples; for all the earth is Mine.

19:6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests, a holy nation [consecrated, set apart to the worship of God]. These are the words you shall speak to the Israelites.

Psalms 50:23 (Amplified Bible)

50:23 He who brings an offering of praise and thanksgiving honors and glorifies Me; and he who orders his way aright [who prepares the way that I may show him], to him I will demonstrate the salvation of God.

B. Pay our vows - keep your word to GOD

"and pay your vows to the Most High,"

I'm silent before GOD in local churches I don't want to say things but will not deliver it to GOD.

Pay or "shalam" in Hebrew which means:

1. to be safe in mind, body or estate

2. to be completed

3. to reciprocate

4. make amends, finish, full, give again

It seems like when we are safe and comes home safe and in well-being, we don't need to forget GOD in thanking Him by reciprocating His Goodness to us. Problem is there are a lot of times that evil has not befallen us and we don't know that, how about those? So to be safe, always come to GOD in His House (local church) not empty-handed always bringing something for the LORD. That's why in every services of the local church, please accept an offering, accept a tithe..

Because you are not making money, but you are helping and encouraging people to keep their word before GOD.
