Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Our faith is preserved and passed on to the next generation by sharing stories of God's faithfulness.
Today, we're diving into the book of Psalms. It's like a playlist for every mood, right? We're going to talk about something super important: passing on our faith to the next generation.
Throughout history, God has been like, "Hey, teach the next generation about Me." Jesus even said the most important thing is to love God with everything we've got and to love others like we love ourselves. If there was a third biggie, it would be to pass on our love for God to the next generation.
If there was a third biggie, it would be to pass on our love for God to the next generation.
So, there was this guy named Asaph, right? He was a worship leader and he really wanted to pass on his faith to his kids and future generations. So, he wrote a song, Psalm 78. This song kept faith alive in his family for over 500 years.
Asaph's plan was simple: tell stories about God's faithfulness. He wanted his kids and their kids to know and love God like he did. He knew how important it was to pass on our faith.
If we want our friends and future kids to love God, we gotta teach them about Him. We can't just expect them to figure it out. God is invisible, and we learn about Him through stories, like the ones in the Bible.
Imagine if you had to figure out which foods are good for you without any guidance. You'd probably end up eating a lot of junk, right? It's the same with learning about God. There's a lot of misinformation out there, so we need to share the truth.
Think about a relay race. You've got this baton, right? You've got to run your hardest, but you also have to pass that baton on to the next runner. Our faith is like that baton. We've got to live it out, but we also have to pass it on to the next generation.
So, how do we do this? We tell our God-stories. Share how God has helped you, guided you, and provided for you. And hey, if you're lucky enough to have grandparents around, ask them to share their God-stories too. We all have a next gen responsibility, and we can shape the faith of future generations by sharing our stories.
So, let's be like Asaph. Let's pass on our faith to the next generation. Let's tell them what God has done, remind them that God doesn't change, and share our own God-stories. By keeping the stories of faith alive, we can help our friends and future kids walk in faith.
This week, let's commit to telling our God-stories. Pick a story, decide who to tell it to, and find a time to share it. Remember, our goal is to pass on our faith to the next generation.
God, help us to remember and share our God-stories. Give us the courage to pass on our faith to the next generation. Thanks for always being there for us. Amen.
