Summary: Our God Reigns
Psalm 106:32 - 48 Our God Reigns
1. The Provocation of God's People
How Great their Sin - 32 They angered him also at the waters of strife
How Grevious - so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:
How Grave - 33 because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips
The Rock symbolized Jesus Christ - The first time these people were without water,
God told Moses to strike the Rock. (Calvary)
The second time God told Moses to speak to the Rock. (Pentecost)
But Moses in anger struck the Rock, and forfeited the promised land.
2. The Perversion of God's People
Their Compromise -
34 They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the Lord commanded them:
Sins of Omission make way for Sins of Commission:
The Curse of Sin - They did not destroy the nations,
The Cause of Sin - concerning whom
The Cost of Sin - the Lord commanded them:
Their Corruption -
It's Source - 35 but were mingled among the heathen
It's Sin - and learned their works.
It's Servitude - 36 And they served their idols:
It's Subtlety - which were a snare unto them.
It's Sacrilege - 37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, 38 and shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan
It's Slaughter - 38 and the land was polluted with blood.
Their Condemnation - was Just, Judicious, and Justified.
Their Own Doing - 39 Thus were they defiled with their own works,
and went a whoring with their own inventions.
3. The Permutations for God's People
Their Repulsion - 40 Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
Their Rejection - 41 And he gave them into the hand of the heathen;
and they that hated them ruled over them.
Their Repression - 42 Their enemies also oppressed them,
and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
& Reduction - 43 Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.
4. The Preservation of God's People
God's Diligence -
It's Tenderness - 44 Nevertheless he regarded their affliction,
It's Timing - when he heard their cry:
It's Terms - 45 and he remembered for them his covenant,
It's Truth - and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.
God's Dependance -
46 He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.
God's Deliverance -
It's Source - 47 Save us, O Lord our God,
It's Sufficiency - and gather us from among the heathen,
It's Surety - to give thanks unto thy holy name,
It's Song - and to triumph in thy praise.
God's Dominance is -
Personal - 48 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel
Perpetual - from everlasting to everlasting:
Paternal - and let all the people say, Amen.
Practical - Praise ye the Lord. - Psalm 92:1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High
