Summary: GOD IS COMPASSIONATE AND GRACIOUS.

OUR GOD OF COMPASSION

OBSERVATION: THE BOOK OF PSALMS IS A COLLECTION OF 150 POEMS WRITTEN BY SEVERAL WRITERS. KING DAVID WROTE HALF OF THEM. THE PSALMS EXPRESS HUMAN EMOTIONS. THEY ARE PASSIONATE SONGS OF PRAYERS LIFTED UP TO GOD (DOUGLAS CONNELLY).

INTERPRETATION: PSALM 135: 14-15 (NKJV) YOUR NAME, O LORD, ENDURES FOREVER, YOUR FAME, O LORD, THROUGHOUT ALL GENERATIONS, FOR THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE, AND HE WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON HIS SERVANTS.

POINTS TO PONDER: THOSE WHO HAVE STUDIED COMPARATIVE RELIGIONS HAVE EXPLORED VARIES PAGAN GODS AS WELL AS JEHOVAH GOD THE ONLY TRUE GOD.

GOD HAS COMPASSION FOR HIS CHILDREN, HIS PEOPLE. HE CHERISHES THEM WITH TINDER LOVE.

IN CONTRAST TO ISRAEL’S SOVEREIGN GOD, JEHOVAH, THE IDOLS OF THE PAGAN FOES ARE IMPOTENT. HE DEMONSTRATED WITH AWESOME POWER HIS ABILITY TO TAKE HIS PEOPLE INTO THE PROMISED LAND. THIS POWER CONTRASTED THE IDOLS, WHICH WERE SENSELESS BLOCKS OF STONE.

APPLICATION: WHAT A STUNNING CONTRAST BETWEEN GOD AND IDOLS! HIS MOUTH SPEAKS WORDS OF GRACE. HIS EYES OBSERVE ALL YOUR MOVEMENT. HIS EARS ARE OPENING TO YOUR CALL, HOWEVER FAINT.
