Our Daily Walk
Lakewood Church of God | Speaker: Pastor Jonathan | 6-18-2017
¥ God is realigning our focus to a New Testament Mentality. Our mentality is weekly or monthly. Living for God as a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ is a “DAILY” practice.
¥ Why do we need to have a “Daily” walk with God? Because the devil fights us “Daily”.
¥ Revival reignites “Daily Focus”
I. Jesus had a habit of being Daily at the Temple.
A. Matt. 6:11, Matt. 26:55, Mark 14:49, Luke 19:47.
B. The Disciples continued this practice after Pentecost. - Acts 2:46-47, Acts 5:42
1. The Result, They Won the Lost Daily - Acts 16:5 “And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.”
II. Daily
A. They Prayed Daily - Luke 11:1-13 (The Lord’s Prayer)
B. They Gave Daily - Exodus 36:1-7 (3) - The construction of the Temple
C. They Were Persecuted Daily - 2 Corinthians 4:8-12; 1 Peter 4:12-14
D. They Encouraged One Another Daily - Hebrews 3:13 “But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”
III. Practical Application
A. Living for Jesus Christ is not just a Sunday go to meeting ritual. It is a daily discipline. It’s the only way we can grow and be fully functional for God’s Kingdom.
1. God has to be #1…
B. As time goes on more and more I’m hearing things like, “Well there has to be a balance…” My Response… What does that even mean?” This is God we are talking about! (For the Christian, If God is not involved then you are out of balance.)
1. Don’t fall into the trap of categorizing God. He should be involved in everything that a Christian does!
2. Don’t let the devil rob you of God’s best for you by reducing your Christian walk to an extra curricular activity.
Closing:
Repent and place God back at 1st priority in our lives.
When we pursue Him daily we can expect to receive from Him daily!
