This sermon explores our victory in Christ, the call to steadfastness in God's work, and the promise of reward in Jesus' second coming.

Introduction

Good morning, everyone! It's so good to see all of you here, ready to share in the Word of God. Today, we're going to talk about something that's close to all of our hearts - victory and steadfastness in the Lord's work and the reward that awaits us when Jesus comes again.

Before we get into that, let's take a look at what one of our respected Christian authors had to say about this. A.W. Tozer, a man known for his deep spiritual insights and passion for God, once said, "The world is perishing for lack of the knowledge of God and the Church is famishing for want of His presence." That's something to chew on, isn't it? It's a call to action for us, to seek God's presence and to share His love with the world.

Now, let's look at the Scripture passage that we'll be focusing on today. It's from 1 Corinthians 15:57-58. And it says: "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain."

Isn't that just powerful? It's a reminder that our victory comes from God, that we're called to be steadfast and immovable in His work, and that our efforts aren't in vain. It's a promise of the reward that's waiting for us when Jesus comes again.

With that in mind, let's bow our heads in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for this day and for the opportunity to gather here in Your name. We ask that You open our hearts and minds to Your Word today. Help us to understand and apply the lessons from 1 Corinthians in our lives. May we always be steadfast and immovable in Your work, knowing that our labor is not in vain. We pray for the strength to share Your love with the world, just as You have loved us. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Alright, folks, let's get into it. We're going to talk about our victory over sin and death, how we can be steadfast and unmovable in the Lord's work, and the reward that's waiting for us when Jesus comes again. Let's get ready to learn, grow, and be encouraged together.

Victory Over Sin and Death

The meaning of true victory. Let's take a moment to consider what this means. Sin, as we know, is a transgression of God's law. It's a rebellion against His divine will. It's a deviation from the path of righteousness that He has laid out for us. And the wages of sin, as the Bible tells us in Romans 6:23, is death. But this isn't just physical death. It's spiritual death. It's eternal separation from God.

The Good News. But here's the good news. God doesn't want us to be separated from Him. He doesn't want us to suffer the consequences of our sin. That's why He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for us. Jesus took our sins upon Himself. He paid the penalty that we deserved. And through His death and resurrection, He conquered sin and death once and for all.

Victory is a gift. This victory over sin and death is a gift from God. It's not something we can earn or achieve on our own, and it’s not a reward for our good deeds or righteous living. It's a gift of grace, freely given to us by God through faith in Jesus Christ.

Liberation from bondage. Now, let's consider how this victory impacts our lives. First, it liberates us from the bondage of sin. We're no longer slaves to sin. We're no longer under its power. We're free to live a life of righteousness, a life that pleases God.

Second, this victory assures us of eternal life. Death has lost its sting. The grave has lost its victory. We have the assurance of eternal life in the presence of God, where there is fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore.
