Summary: There is no other like Jesus; He is unique.

Focus Passage: John 3:14-21

Introduction: Begotten = Unique, One and only

I. Jesus is Unique because He is God’s ONLY son.

a. John 3:16 Jesus said so.

b. Jesus is fully God. “Christ was truly God. But he did not try to remain equal with God.” (Philippians 2:6 CEV)

c. Jesus is fully man. “but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.” (Philippians 2:7 NASB) His favorite name for Himself was “Son of Man”.

II. Jesus is Unique because He is God’s ONLY sufficient sacrifice.

a. Old Testament Precedent: Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, "My father!" And he said, "Here I am, my son." And he said, "Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" Abraham said, "God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." So the two of them walked on together. (Genesis 22:7-8 NASB)

b. New Testament Reality: John 3:16

c. And again: By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD, (Hebrews 10:10-12 NASB)

III. Jesus is Unique because he is God’s ONLY salvation.

a. John 3:16 – Jesus explains God’s plan of salvation. BELIEVE IN HIM

b. John 14:6 - Jesus *said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
