ONE THING
Josh 23:14 And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.
I. DESIRED (PSALMS 27:4)
Psalms 27:4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
A person with no desire will never get anything done!
You most likely will not see them in the house of God.
You will not see them being a witness.
We need to seek after and desire to dwell in the house of the Lord
1. Where we learn of the things of God.
2. We get comfort from the People of God.
A. There are 2 desires we can have
1. Our own selfish desire
2. God’s desire for this life He gave us
B. God’s desire for us.
1. Faithful -- God is faithful to us? (I Cor. 1:9) Shouldn’t we be faithful to Him? (2 Tim. 2:13) I can’t wait until Christ say’s to me "Well done though good and faithful servant."
1 Cor 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
1 Tim 1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
Stewards need to earn their money.
We need to be faithful because we are not our own.
We should be faithful because of what our Master has done for us.
2. Fervent -- exhibiting or marked by great intensity of feeling: zealous
Rom 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
If we do not believe with all our hearts what we preach, why should others?
If we do not live what we preach, how can others?
3. Focused -- our focus needs to be Christ
Heb 12:1-3
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
Jesus is our focus and goal.
Lost souls are the reason.
4. Fear of God -- man can’t destroy the soul, but God can.
Ps 147:11 The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
Prov 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
I Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
When we really begin to fear God, We will begin to live for Him.
When we really begin to live for God, We can begin to understand and love Him.
When we really begin to understand and love God, He can Bless our lives.
5. Fighting Spirit -- We can have victory, because God is fighting for us!!!
I Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
2 Sam 23:15-17
15 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!
16 And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.
17 And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.
We are in a battle, We as Christians must be prepared to fight
We must be suited to fight (Eph. 6:10-20)
6. Faith -- God knows what is going to happen tomorrow, we can trust Him, He will not fail us.
