Emphasize the Christian responsibility to evangelize, the urgency of this task, and the transformative power of the Gospel that can reach all nations.

Introduction

Good morning, family of God! Today’s sermon is inspired by Matthew 28, where we are reminded of our divine mandate as Christians - The Great Commission.

The words of Jonathan Hayashi resonate with us: "You are either making disciples or making excuses. Which one are you?"

Let's read together from Matthew 28

The Great Commission

When Jesus said, "Go and make disciples of all nations," He was not addressing only His disciples but every Christian who would ever live. This is our shared mission, our collective responsibility - to evangelize, to share the good news of the Gospel with the world.

Rooted in our love for God and our obedience to His commands: As we grow in our relationship with God, we should naturally want to share the love and grace we've experienced with others. Evangelism is not a task reserved for pastors, missionaries, or religious leaders. It is the calling of every Christian, regardless of our profession, age, or social status. Each of us has a unique sphere of influence, a specific set of relationships, and personal experiences that equip us to share the Gospel in ways no one else can.

Making disciples: It’s about helping people to not only come to faith in Christ but also grow in their understanding and application of His teachings. It involves walking alongside new believers, nurturing their faith, and helping them to mature spiritually. This discipleship process is a crucial part of our evangelistic responsibility.

God does the work: Evangelism is not about convincing or converting people through our own efforts or eloquence. The power to change hearts and lives lies not in us, but in the Gospel itself and the work of the Holy Spirit. Our role is to faithfully share the message, to plant and water the seeds, and trust God for the growth (1 Corinthians 3:6). We are merely vessels, channels through which God's love and truth can flow.

Extends beyond our immediate communities to "all nations:" This global perspective reflects God's heart for every people group and reminds us that the Gospel is for everyone, regardless of their ethnicity, language, or cultural background. Whether it's through supporting missionaries, engaging in short-term missions, or reaching out to the diverse communities in our own cities, we are called to be part of God's global mission.

Can be challenging: It requires courage, perseverance, and a willingness to step out of our comfort zones. It may involve facing rejection, misunderstanding, or even persecution. But we can take heart in Jesus' promise that He is with us always, even to the end of the age. His presence gives us the strength and boldness we need to fulfill our evangelistic responsibility.

The Urgency of the Task

The urgency of the task at hand is a call to action, a divine mandate that requires our immediate attention ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
