INTRODUCTION:

The oil in Scripture symbolises the anointing of the Holy Spirit – the empowerment of God upon a man for divine assignment. Every generation is marked by men and women who carry a peculiar oil, specially released to meet the needs and battles of their time. Without the oil, struggles increase; but with the oil, yokes are broken, destinies are preserved, and lives are transformed.

Our cry must be: “Lord, anoint me with oil, not just for myself, but for my generation.” This oil is not for decoration but for function – to heal the sick, deliver the oppressed, lift burdens, and advance God’s kingdom.

1. THE PURPOSE OF THE OIL

a) The oil breaks yokes (Isaiah 10:27): God’s anointing destroys demonic burdens and liberates destinies.

b) The oil empowers for exploits (Acts 10:38): Jesus went about doing good because He was anointed.

c) The oil preserves destinies (Psalm 105:15): “Touch not my anointed…” – the oil makes you untouchable.

d) The oil establishes kingship and relevance (1 Samuel 16:13): David became relevant when the oil came upon him.

Biblical Example: Gideon was ordinary until the Spirit of God came upon him, and he delivered Israel (Judges 6:34).

2. THE NECESSITY OF OIL FOR A GENERATION

a) Each generation has peculiar battles (Judges 2:10): The next generation must know God through the carriers of His oil.

b) Without the oil, people stumble (Matthew 25:8): The foolish virgins had no extra oil and missed the bridegroom.

c) Generational impact requires generational oil (Joel 2:28): God promised His Spirit upon all flesh for their times.

d) Your oil is not for yourself alone (Romans 8:19): Creation waits for your manifestation.

Biblical Example: Esther was anointed for her generation to deliver Israel from Haman’s plot (Esther 4:14).

3. THE CHARACTERISTICS OF OIL-CARRIERS

a) They live consecrated lives (2 Timothy 2:21): God pours oil on vessels set apart.

b) They are obedient to divine instructions (Deuteronomy 28:1): Obedience sustains the oil.

c) They walk in humility (James 4:6): Pride dries up the oil, but humility attracts more grace.

d) They are committed to service (1 Samuel 3:1): Samuel was serving when the oil located him.

Biblical Example: Joseph, anointed for Egypt, walked in purity, humility, and service, preserving nations (Genesis 41:38-41).

4. THE DANGERS OF RUNNING OUT OF OIL

a) Weakness in battle (Judges 16:20): Samson lost his strength when the oil lifted.

b) Vulnerability to the enemy (1 Samuel 16:14): When the Spirit left Saul, tormentors entered.

c) Missed opportunities (Matthew 25:11-12): The foolish virgins missed their open door because their oil finished.

d) Lack of relevance in destiny (Ecclesiastes 10:1): A little folly can cause the oil-bearer to lose honour.

Biblical Example: King Saul lost his throne because he mishandled the oil of his generation (1 Samuel 15:23).

5. HOW TO ACCESS AND SUSTAIN THE OIL FOR YOUR GENERATION

a) Desire and hunger for the oil (Psalm 42:1): Only the thirsty are filled.

b) Prayer and fasting (Acts 13:2-3): Fresh oil is released in the place of consecrated prayer.

c) Value the oil-carriers of your generation (2 Kings 2:9): Elisha received a double portion because he valued Elijah.

d) Constant refilling (Ephesians 5:18): Yesterday’s oil is not enough for today’s battles.

Biblical Example: The Apostles, though filled at Pentecost, sought refilling in Acts 4:31 for greater exploits.

CONCLUSION:

Every generation is in need of men and women who will rise with the oil of God to heal, deliver, preserve, and advance the kingdom. You are not an accident in this generation; you are chosen to be a vessel of oil. Seek it, sustain it, and release it for your generation.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, anoint me afresh with oil for my generation.

2. Father, let every yoke upon my family line be destroyed by the oil.

3. Lord, preserve my destiny and make me untouchable through Your oil.

4. Father, pour upon me the oil of relevance in my generation.

5. Lord, help me to live a consecrated life that sustains the oil.

6. Father, let the oil upon my life never run dry.

7. Lord, empower me to manifest the gifts of the Spirit for my generation.

8. Father, make me a preserver of destinies through the oil You give me.

9. Lord, let fresh oil flow into every dry area of my life.

10. Father, raise me as a vessel of oil to impact this generation and the next.
