Summary: An examination of what is sober minded thinking and the sobering effects of drinking.
Being Sober Minded
In (Titus 2:6) The Apostle Paul wrote to Titus, Likewise exhort Young men to be sober minded.
What does it mean to be sober minded? (1 Thes 5:6) Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
Sober minded means to be of good behavior. (1 Tim 3:2) A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
Sober minded is a starting point. (1 Pet 1:13) Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; When you get dressed, put on a sober mind first.(1 Thes 5:8) But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
Sober minds are the voice of aged wisdom (Titus 2:2) That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
Sober Minded is for ladies too. (Titus 2:4) That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, (1 Tim 3:11) Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
Being Sober Minded is to be vigilant. (1 Peter 5:8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Sober and in Prayer. (1 Peter 4:7) But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
Sober is Just and Holy and Temperate. (Titus 1:8) But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
Drunkenness and Fornication (Rev. 18:3) For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, NOTICE: How one sin can lead to another.
Sobriety is walking honestly (Rom 13:13) Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in bedrooms and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
Drunkenness will keep one out of Heaven
(Galatians 5:21) Envyings, murders, drunkenness, ravelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Alcoholic Statistics:
“By the time they are high school seniors, 80% have used alcohol and 62% have been drunk. In the United States, roughly 50,000 cases of alcohol poisoning are reported each year and approximately once every week, someone dies from this preventable condition. Approximately 14 million people in the United States are addicted to alcohol or abuse alcohol. 65 people each day die on our highways due to alcohol. It is estimated that over 3 million teens between the ages of 14 and 17 in the United States today are alcoholics. Long-term, heavy alcohol use is the leading cause of illness and death from liver disease in the U.S. 95% of alcoholics die from their disease and die approximately 26 years earlier than their normal life expectancy. Currently, approximately 14 million Americans, 1 in every 13 adults, abuse alcohol or are alcoholic. More than three fourths of female victims of nonfatal, domestic violence reported that their assailant had been drinking or using drugs. 500,000 Americans who are dependent on alcohol are between the ages of 9 and 12.”

So are you drunk or sober minded?
6 beers = drunk 1 beer = 1/6 drunk
Is your life right with God?
Is your Heart Right with God?
Do you need to be sober minded?
Do you want to know how to become a Christian?
Do you believe that Jesus is the only Begotten Son of God? (John 8:24) “For if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.”
Are you willing to repent of your past sins? Jesus said, “(Luke 13:3) “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” Unless we repent, we perish. That is the consequence of SIN.
Are you willing to Confess that Jesus is the ONLY begotten Son of God? Jesus said in (Matt 10:32) “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. (33) But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
Are YOU willing to be baptized for the remission of sin, in the Name of the Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost? (1 Peter 3:21) The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
The Baptistry is ready and today is the day of salvation,
Don’t wait, tomorrow may be too late.
COME NOW, WHILE WE STAND AND SING!
