Obedience: The Love Language of The LORD

John 14:21

There are many ways people are taught to show love to their fellow human beings, be it spouses, relatives, friends and strangers. People are taught to buy gifts, speak well to and about others, do acts of service and many other teachings that are present. I think it’s great. We need to love each other. Sometimes this might require going out of our way to show this love. Love one another as our SAVIOR told us to. This places the onus on us to find out people’s love languages and demonstrating love to these individuals, even the ones who are difficult to love. But caution calls, you are dealing with fallen man, so love yourself first, understand yourself first then you can love others. When we are unable to help or love others, we can always research places where they can be loved and helped by others with the ability and capacity. In other words, referral to appropriate places is also a language of love. Be wise and smart.

But back to the point, how do we show love to our FATHER? How can we show Him that we love HIM? After all, what will you give HIM seeing that HE owns everything? What can you do for HIM that the billions of angels cannot do for HIM? At a command?

It is my humble opinion that the love language of The LORD is obedience. Once you obey HIM, HE knows you love HIM. Is it not written?

i. To obey is better than sacrifice.

ii. Whoever has MY commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me. John 14:21 and guess what! The person who keeps the commandments shall be loved back. Read the scripture

iii. John 14:23 Anyone who loves ME will obey my teaching

There used to be a song where a man mournfully sang , “Love hurts…” Ha ha ha. Every one knows this. When you love someone, it will cost you. Hopefully, they will love you back and not make your love journey any harder.

Let’s see the heart of our FATHER. HE loves us and has spoken to us in all love languages possible.

i. HE gave our father Adam a beautiful garden home, which HE promptly disobeyed his way out of. We see GOD give us all sorts of things and the necessary instructions but we choose our own way we choose other voices and before long we have lost what GOD gave us. Let no one ever think they are better than Adam.

ii. HE gave Adam a wife, whom Adam chose to obey over The LORD. And so it is nowadays, we see men and women choosing to be with children of the enemy instead of obeying The LORD and marrying from HIS family.

iii. HE gave us a beautiful environment, with plants and animals and clean water even outside the garden of Eden but what do we do, instead of caring for these like HE did, we destroy it and then complain about floods and all sorts of disasters and ask where GOD is.

I could go on and on. Our problem is one, we want to do things our own way and that in one word is disobedience. We do not want to listen to our GOD.

Let us read the words of The LORD ALMIGHTY in Jeremiah 6:10 , “ To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed, so they cannot hear. The word of The LORD is offensive to them, they find no pleasure in it.”

Read further on, in Jeremiah 6:16. “This is what The LORD says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it and you will find ret for your souls. But you said,” We will not walk in it”

In verse 17, the people go on to tell The LORD that they will not listen to HIM. So, HE says HE will bring disaster on them because they have not listened to HIS words and have rejected HIS law. The LORD goes on to say that HE has no interest in their incense from Sheba, their sweet calamus, their burnt offerings. In fact their sacrifices do not bring pleasure to HIM.

In other words, you cannot bribe GOD with precious and rare things. HE wants your total obedience your total commitment, that you listen to HIS words and accept HIS laws. For example, when HE says, homosexuality is a sin. Accept it and comply. Even if it will cost you, pain you or whatever. Otherwise, HE says if you do not obey HIM, HE will hand you over to disaster.

I think after you have done the obedience thing fully and The LORD knows you love Him, then like the Lover of our souls that HE is, all the other gifts HE will accept, like your singing, your acts of service, your money, and all your precious things which you offer HIM. Because then HE knows your love is real. You are not a fair weather friend. You are not one of those who love HIM with the mouth only. You are not only there for what HE has to offer, YOU are there because of HIM, because of who HE is.
