Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
This sermon explores how to cultivate unwavering faith, stand firm amidst life's storms, and maintain spiritual momentum through reliance on the Holy Spirit.
Good morning, dear family of God. It's such a joy to see all of you gathered here today, united in faith and love, eager to receive the word of God. We are all here because we believe in the power of the Gospel, the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, and the redemptive love of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Today, we are going to immerse ourselves in the profound wisdom found in Psalm 143:10, "Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground." Isn't it beautiful how the Psalmist is expressing his complete trust in God and his desire to be led by the Spirit?
In the words of the renowned preacher, A.C. Dixon, "When we rely upon organization, we get what organization can do; when we rely upon education, we get what education can do; when we rely upon eloquence, we get what eloquence can do. And so on. But when we rely upon prayer, we get what God can do." Today, we are here to rely on God, to seek His guidance, and to allow His Spirit to lead us.
Let's pray together. Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today with open hearts and open minds, ready to receive Your word. We ask that Your Holy Spirit guide us as we study Your word, and that You open our eyes to the truths that You want us to see. We pray that You would strengthen our faith, help us to stand firm in the face of adversity, and give us the courage to keep moving forward, no matter what. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
Transition. So, let's begin, family. Let's open our hearts and minds to the word of God, and let's see what He has to teach us today.
The Spirit of God is our guide, our teacher, and our comforter. It is through the Spirit that we are able to foster a faith that is not just strong, but steadfast and unwavering. The Spirit is the one who helps us to understand the word of God, to apply it to our lives, and to live it out in our daily actions.
When we read the word of God, it is the Spirit who illuminates the text for us, making it come alive in our hearts and minds. The Spirit helps us to see the deeper truths that are hidden within the text, truths that we might not be able to see on our own. The Spirit also helps us to apply these truths to our lives, showing us how we can live out the word of God in our daily actions.
The Spirit also helps us to persevere in our faith, even when we face trials and tribulations. The Spirit gives us the strength to stand firm, to keep going, even when the going gets tough. The Spirit reminds us of the promises of God, of His faithfulness, and of His love for us.
The Spirit also helps us to grow in our faith, to mature as believers. He convicts us of sin, leads us to repentance, and helps us to live a life that is pleasing to God. The Spirit also helps us to bear the fruit of the Spirit, which includes love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
The Spirit also helps us to witness to others, to share the good news of the Gospel. The Spirit gives us the words to say, the courage to speak, and the love to share. The Spirit also helps us to live a life that is a testimony to the power of the Gospel, a life that shines with the light of Christ.
The Spirit is our guide, our teacher, and our comforter. It is through the Spirit that we are able to foster a faith that is not just strong, but steadfast and unwavering. The Spirit is the one who helps us to understand the word of God, to apply it to our lives, and to live it out in our daily actions.
