Psalm 40:7-8
Then said, I, Behold, I come; in the volume of the book it is written of me; I delight to do Your will. O my God: yes, Your law is within my heart.
We will examine what hinders you from discerning God’s will.
THE MAIN THING IS THE CONDITION OF YOUR HEART!
The will of God is connected with what’s in the heart.
Jesus was obedience in his heart to do the will of God.
Our heart and the will is connected.
It will be how we obey the promptings to do his will.
Ephesians 6:5
Servants (slaves), be obedient to those who are your physical masters, having respect for them and eager concern to please them, in singleness of motive and with all your heart as [service] to Christ [Himself].
Condition of heart is in direct relation to the will of God.
Col. 3:22-24
Servants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not only when their eyes are on you as pleasers of men, but in simplicity of purpose [with all your heat] because of your reverence for the Lord and as sincere expression of your devotion to Him.
Whatever may be your task work at it heartily, as something done for the Lord and not for men.
Knowing with all certainty that it is from the Lord and not from men that you will receive the inheritance which is your real reward. The One Whom you are actually serving is the Lord, Christ The Messiah.
Whatever we do we must have the right heart condition.
Spiritual discernment in knowing God’s will comes from a clean heart.
Hebrews 10:22
Let us come forward and draw near with true honest and sincere hearts in unqualified assurance and absolute conviction engendered by faith by that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness, having our hearts sprinkled and purified from a guilty evil conscience and our bodies cleansed with pure water.
Our heart and conscious is co-related.
If our consciousness (purity of heart) is clear, then our discernment will be clear as the sky.
The clarity of our discernment depends on the condition of our heart.
Psalm 16:7
The counsel of the Lord was related to the heart.
Proverbs 20:5
Divine guidance is a matter of the heart.
Deuteronomy 30:11-14
That is why many of you need to go to prophet to get directions; check your heart condition out.
Whatever you want to seek from God is already in your heart.
Mark 12:17
They wanted to confront Jesus on a question of financial matter. Jesus said – give to Caesar what is Caesar’s; give to God what is God’s.
In understanding this go to verse 1 and read the story. Parable of the wicked vine dresser. Verse 10 – Chief cornerstone – Christ. I Peter 2:6 (talks about cornerstone). Central point – death of Jesus from wicked men.
When Jesus Christ lay down his life and redeem us from sin – we don’t belong to our self but to God through the blood of Jesus.
Render to Caesar – Caesar.
Render to God – God.
We belong to God.
The things that are God’s is returned to God – tithing. Can be resolved if we have surrendered our heart to the Lord.
The money doesn’t belong to you, but the Lord and you will handle money differently if you understand this truth.
II Cor. 8:2,5
Macedonia church gave out of their poverty; they have a generous spirit to give.
If we give ourselves to God – then God has our money. The will of God in this matter of money will be an issue.
Once your heart is settled, you will only serve one.
The state of our inner being is where we can make the right choices. Our heart must be right with God.
Mark 10:21-24
His heart was not right. He did not have clear direction.
Mark 12:18
They ask Jesus guidance on:
a. Finances
b. Marriage
v. 27 (also see Luke 20:38 -- … for all who live to Him)
Romans 14:7-10
Our soul purpose of life is to live for God.
If we are living for the Lord, we know the answer.
We are married to the Lord.
V. 27 – The moment we settle the issue of Jesus in our heart, the discerning of God’s will is clear.
Why is the heart such a crucial matter in discerning God’s will for your life?
Because you don’t have wisdom without it to guide you.
Job 36:35
Wisdom – “leb” – heart
God is mighty and have the heart kind of wisdom.
Proverbs 11:12
God’s wisdom cannot function in a wrong heart. The wisdom is of the heart.
The foundation of all guidance lies in the condition of the heat.
