Summary: Making Room for Jesus in a crowded world.
INTRODUCTION:
We live in a place where there are over 12 million visitors each year. The Great Smoky Mountains
National Park. Every year from Memorial Day until Labor Day people come to see the magnificent beauty
of the mountains. Many Christians come to see and appreciate the majestic glory of God’s creation. Then
there are the non-christians who come for other reasons. With this many people coming into one area it is impossible to find a place to stay without a reservation. 2000 years ago there was another event in which people came together and it was impossible for people to find a place to stay there also:
READ LUKE 2:1-7
I would like to speak to you for a few moments this morning about a phrase that is very common around here: NO VACANCY! This is a term used when there is no room for occupation.
2000 years have past and there are still some places where the Lord is not welcome today. For
some He isn’t welcome in the physical presence and for some He is not welcome in the spiritual presence.
From the beginning of His earthly life until the very end, He was rejected. There was “No Vacancy “ for
the Son of God in the lives of many. Let’s look at some of this circumstances in which there was “No
Room” for Jesus.
JOHN THE BAPTIST INTRODUCED JESUS TO THE WORLD AS
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which
taketh away the sin of the world.
I. There was “No Vacancy” in His own home town and with His own people.
Read Mark 6:1-6
II. There was no room in the spirutal house due to physical crowding. What about possessions? God
again spoke in the Ten commandments there would be no other gods before Him.
Read Matthew 19:16
III. There was “No Vacancy” due to activities. What about our time. God again comands that we honor
the Sabbbath to keep it holy. He was saying we were to make room for Him in our daily lives.
Read Matthew 8:21-22 There was a man who was using a funeral as an excuse not to follow
after him. Jesus told him to let the dead bury their dead.
Read Luke 14:16-24
IV. There was “NO VACANCY” for many because they put family first.
Read Matthew 22:34-40 & Mat 10:37
THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE THAT ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO FILL THEIR ROOM/HOUSE /TABENACLE AND MOST OF THEM WILL REJECT JESUS.
THE WOMAN AT THE WELL WAS EMPTY AND WAS LOOKING TO BE FILLED
John 4:13-15
PAUL TOLD TIMOTHY THAT THERE WERE MANY OUT THERE THAT WOULD/COULD FILL YOU WITH SOMETHING ELSE.
Read 2 Tim 3:5
HOW CAN WE MAKE ROOM FOR JESUS AND GET RID OF THIS OVERCROWDING?
By prayer - fervent prayer - honest prayer - Holy Ghost filled prayer.
1 Th 5:17 Pray without ceasing.
Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he
is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
IN CLOSING: IF YOU DON’T FILL YOUR TEMPLE WITH THE RIGHT THINGS THEN SATAN WILL FILL IT FOR YOU.
Mat 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and
findeth none.
Mat 12:44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he
findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
Mat 12:45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they
enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
JESUS TOLD US THAT HE WOULD COME IN IF WE LET HIM
Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come
in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
SOMETIMES JESUS WILL EVEN OPEN THE DOOR BUT HE CAN’T COME IN UNLESS INVITED! FOLKS THERE ARE TWO PLACES THAT NEVER FILL UP AND THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR
ONE MORE:
HELL: Read Isa 5:14 - 15 & Rev 20:15
HEAVEN: Read 2 Pet 3:9, John 3:16, Acts 2:21
THIS HOLIDAY SEASON MAKE SURE THERE IS ROOM FOR JESUS IN YOUR HEART AND BRING HIM AS AN INVITED GUEST TO YOUR FAMILY FUNCTIONS THIS YEAR.
