The root cause of all cults in the world. Their cult leader interpreted the bible privately or for their own group's benefit only. It's the very basic of bible interpretation, your interpretation of the bible must be subjected under major interpretation of other bible scholars. How to check? To be safe go with the greek and hebrew language, read commentaries on how they interpret that bible verse, and go with the major interpretation. Don't go over it or less than it.
Revelation 22:18-19 (Amplified Bible)
I [personally solemnly] warn everyone who listens to the statements of the prophecy [the predictions and the consolations and admonitions pertaining to them] in this book: If anyone shall add anything to them, God will add and lay upon him the plagues (the afflictions and the calamities) that are recorded and described in this book.
And if anyone cancels or takes away from the statements of the book of this prophecy [these predictions relating to Christ’s kingdom and its speedy triumph, together with the consolations and admonitions or warnings pertaining to them], God will cancel and take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the city of holiness (purity and hallowedness), which are described and promised in this book.
That's where the cult starts, they add to GOD'S WORDS and/or they subtract to it.
Romans 6:6 (Amplified Bible)
We know that our old (unrenewed) self was nailed to the cross with Him in order that [our] body [which is the instrument] of sin might be made ineffective and inactive for evil, that we might no longer be the slaves of sin.
Romans 13:11 (Amplified Bible)
Besides this you know what [a critical] hour this is, how it is high time now for you to wake up out of your sleep (rouse to reality). For salvation (final deliverance) is nearer to us now than when we first believed (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on Christ, the Messiah).
ILLUSTRATION: One of the higher ups in our work place that mentors me said that my he does not want to read the postings i post because it's my own private interpretation, getting it just from the internet, well I just said sorry the bible can't be subjected to private interpretation what I got from the internet are already published known facts and knowledges of interpreting the bible and I do heed and apply it in my life because I'm a doer of GOD'S WORDS, how about you? Since then we never talked about the bible, it's useless to talk about the bible to him, because he never applies it, he will only add judgements upon judgements on himself, hearing the bible but never doing it in his life, he's just deceiving himself, not GOD and not me definitely but himself.
James 1:22 (Amplified Bible)
But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth].
