Jesus wants us to be people who bring light into the world. To do this, we need to be careful about what we allow into our hearts and minds. The things we see and focus on can either bring light or darkness into our lives.

What Your Eyes See Will Be

Our eyes play a big role in shaping our desires and actions. Jesus talks about this when he addresses the sin of adultery. He emphasizes the importance of where we look, as it can lead us down a path of darkness. Often, temptation starts with a glance, but if we're not careful, it can turn into fixation. So, we need to be mindful of what we focus on and turn our gaze towards Christ.

It's All About the Rhythm

We all love a good rhythm in music, and it captivates us. Similarly, we need healthy rhythms in our lives to experience light. Last week, we talked about the importance of regularly reading the Bible. Today, I want to highlight two more essential rhythms: prayer and Sabbath. Prayer helps us deepen our relationship with God, and Sabbath provides a time of rest and renewal. These rhythms are key to experiencing the light of Christ.

Filled to Overflow

Jesus tells us that a lamp filled with light is placed on a stand for all to see. In the same way, people will look at our lives and get something from it. God wants our lives to overflow with His light, especially in a dark world. We need to examine our lives and make sure we're filled with His light. And once we have that light, we must share it with others.
